A friction modifier would only be needed in the differential, not the mt-82If you do the Motul DCTF, do you need to use a friction modifier or just straight Motul?
Straight Motul. I've been driving with it in some cold spring weather temps and I feel a much smoother shift over the factory fluid. It was worth it.If you do the Motul DCTF, do you need to use a friction modifier or just straight Motul?
My '17 manual has terrible notchy 1-2 when cold. Anyway I went with BG syncro kit below, and had the dealership change out the trans fluid and my rear diff fluid. I could tell a difference albeit subtle. So far happy. At 85,000 miles no issues so far.Still on the factory clutch?
Same.I just had Syncro Shift II w/MGC done and wow what a difference. 1-2 crunch is 75% better and the “bang” when you shift into 1st from a stop is much reduced. I should have done this a year ago.

the BG fluid was a game changer. After that the stainless clutch line has made this car very enjoyable with the barton! Make sure to check the alignment bracket on the top of the housing if you experience some shifts that aren’t right. I’m still adjusting my bracket to get my shift into 2nd perfect. That’s all that’s bothering me nowI don't know what was in my mt-82, likely stock fluid. 2017 with 16000 miles, but I'm the third owner. I did not notice any shifting issues. I replaced whatever it was with Amsoil, and now I seem to have the "notchyness" most of you speak of. I wonder if the Amsoil is just too thick for the syncro's to spin up and catch up.
Deliverd today was the BG fluid. I will swap it out here at some point. I hope for the positive result others have had.
I came with a Barton shifter and I like the way it shifts...just hope to improve it.
What ??? Driver error owns that.I just had Syncro Shift II w/MGC done and wow what a difference. 1-2 crunch is 75% better and the “bang” when you shift into 1st from a stop is much reduced. I should have done this a year ago.
