Yeah, something like that for sure. Which just makes it worse for them IMO.
That makes it worse for everyone...
Something is definitely rotten in Denmark.
I'm wondering if there IS a "right side up" way the the gears have to go in the pump? Although these latest striations appear to be pretty evenly spaced across the face of the outer ring, there does seem to be a "clean/untouched" area on one side of the inner gear which might show they were either not installed properly or the inner gear may be improperly machined on at least part of its face...?

That pretty shifty that Ken took down his original video too....

Not sure how they could be installed the a wrong way such that the scoring would happen like that. It's a pretty simple install on a shaft.

I wonder what the runout is on the crank snout.

I know when I was building HD twin cam engines if the crank runout was over about .007 the oil pump gears would score.

Agree. Still, the gears are certainly tore up quite a bit. I wouldn't think they would get so trashed just hand cranking. That isn't hardened steel.

Hmmm, that makes sense too....
This was a build/rebuild right?
Was it done for performance, or did the original engine grenade and maybe the crank was reused?

Why did they ask him to take the video down? Are they threatening suit or something? I mean if there's an issue with any product, the consumer has every right to relay their concerns to others, no?
I wont categorically say they told him to but he did maybe on his own

Agree with that ^^^^ 10000%…. There’s no way in hell “hardened steel” would get damaged from a manual human hand cranking…. Something is really amiss….

The video matches with what I have found on the Harley twin cam engines. They use a pressed on crank that is not very precise and runout of .006 is common.

The procedure for installing an oil pump is to use locating pins or to snug the oil pump bolts, SNUG NOT TIGHT, and rotate the engine 2 revs then tighten the pump housing.

If I ever replace an oil pump in a coyote I will use the Harley procedure.

EDIT

In all honesty I would snug the bolts then hit the starter for 2 or 3 seconds. I never had any problems.
