I've decided to do it. Saved my pennies and saved my dimes but not to buy a 409. My list in no particular order is:
2018 Roush Jackhammer (warranty ? from Ford ?)
2018 Shelby GT350 (oil usage ?)
2019 Bullitt (am I buying name and badges ?)
or: order a 2019 GT premium with automatic, 3:55 gear, exhaust mode, and 19" tires forgoing PP1 or 2.
I realize a GT is far off from the above 3.
No tracking or racing just want a performance car.
Value your thoughts before I decide.

I'm gonna get absolutely shit and a half for this especially because it's a Mustang forum but have you considered a Challenger RT Scat Pack or an SRT392? My reasoning is because of the no tracking or racing part. I'm getting the feeling you want a nice comfy fast street brawler.

A GT isn't that far off, at least in just about any place you'll use it in the US.

The Bullitt is a GT Premium PP1 AE with a GT350 intake and a tune to accommodate the extra airflow. At top end WOT, the Bullitt will keep going to 7500 rpm where the GT will start to run out of breath at just over 7000 rpm. Net result is 20HP (but no torque) at WOT in higher gears and a top speed of 164 instead of 153. Unless you can foresee some cases where you'll be doing over ~140 mph to be able to see that difference, the Bullitt package becomes a limited edition color option, red calipers, black exhaust tips, spoiler delete, badges, and stereo generated engine sounds instead of intake hiss through a sound tube. You'll give up access to an electronics option or two and the automatic transmission.

If you're not going to track it, you can get every bit of the street performance of a Bullitt for less money in a GT. If you have no interest in the performance packages, a lot less money, but the performance will be noticeably different.

If not tracking and you wouldn't get a PP1 when ordering then you'll be just getting a BULLITT for the Green, as it's base model is a Premium PP1 GT with active exhaust.

If I wasnt looking at Ford I'd be giving the new Challenger 1320 a hard look. They are very nice inside and perform great.

I’m with this guy. If I weren’t a die hard Ford guy I’d be in a scat pack challenger with a 392 hemi.

That said, get yourself a GT and option it out how you want. More flexibility in a “regular” GT than the others mentioned.

Won’t give you too much shit, but why would you respond with an overweight, underpowered competitor on a Mustang site? I suspect he’s like most (some?) of us and he’s on here because he likes Ford products?

Of the 3, I would one hundred percent go with the GT. The A10 and that motor are plenty healthy enough for someone that’s buying it simply for personal satisfaction. I had the choice of a GT350 or a GT. Ordered my GT the way I wanted it from a factory perspective, then spent the extra money on making it exactly what I wanted. And I’m still coming out on top. Love the GT350 but I would never want to put the miles on it that I am comfortable putting on my car, nor would I want to modify it from stock. Realistically, you can’t go wrong either way.

I'm not going to get into this any further.

I say order a GT exactly how you want it .

The new Bullitt is very nice, but it doesn't make me want it like the 2008 Bullitt did.

What are your goals? If you can afford a Jackhammer, then you can afford a GT with Twin turbos or a Whipple. Either of which will crush those other cars. A GT optioned exactly the way you like it, and 800 HP seems pretty ideal to me. If you don't plan on modifying it, I would go for the Bullitt simply for resale value and relative rarity. And I really like the green.

I was in a similar position 6 months ago, looking for a "nice comfy fast street brawler" that made some noise and stepped the f*ck out when I hit the gas. I've not owned an American car since my 1974 Olds Cutlass Supreme. I have zero biases to give. Of the 'Murican specimens that fit the bill that are available today - the only one I actually like the look of is the Mustang.

Sounds like he wants a warranty.

Honestly, OP should just wait a few months for a GT500 IMO
