the adjuster works for the insurance company... Fight for more money.

also don't say everyone is alright. Hopefully you and your son got checked out... Sometimes kids don't tell all that is bothering them.

Glad no one in hospital... This could happen to anyone. Sucks.

I'm in Canada, so maybe it's different up here, but I'm an auto adjuster... our jobs are to give you what you're entitled to as per your policy. If you pay for gap coverage, then you'll get it, but don't expect to get twice the amount you're entitled yo.. the whole purpose of insurance is indemnification. If you butt heads with the adjuster, he (or she) will make it a long an excruciating process for you..

Well, Yo, hopefully the person is in America and we seem to have certain rights here. No one should take the first check that some adjusters will attempt to provide.

The person could get an honest adjuster/company. Not sure who said anything about getting "twice" the amount... but anyway.

And no, they won't make it a "long an excruciating process" for anyone.... stop with that FUD. Just stop.

Only an a**hole adjuster would take it personally... and I've not seen that in America... sure there are horror stories out there though. I've always dealt with professionals. In full disclaimer, I've helped other people... not had an accident myself in over 20 years. knock on wood....

wait...you're telling me that instead of doing their job correctly and efficiently, an adjuster will make the process excruciating for you if you butt heads?
I guess professionalism is dead.

Adjuster works at their own pace. It is very easy to annoy the hell out of them if you call them every week. Sometimes they are backlogged with a ton of claims. I was actually able to meet mine face-to-face at the junkyard.

Picked up a replacement this weekend

Well I picked up my 3rd 2015 mustang in the last 6 months. The first Eco boost spun a bearing, the second the GT I totaled last weekend which is the subject of this post. I was able to pick up this one this weekend taking advantage of the 0% for 72 and the 1000 rebate. Everything is the same except the ruby red color and the recaro seats and premium trim.

In America most of our insurance companies are out to screw us over every chance they get.

We do have to fight for every last dollar otherwise we'll walk away with a sore butthole, an empty wallet, and higher insurance premiums.

Beautiful car OP! Everytime I see Ruby Red I second guess my decision about sticking with my beloved white. That color is truly amazing in person. Pics do not do it justice.

And I second other people's comments about insurance. Shortly after I started working at BMW and before my son was born the wife and I did some updates to our policy. After working at BMW I quickly realized how quick repair costs add up on expensive vehicles. I used to only have 25/50K on our policy. Just doing simple math that can run out very quickly. I upped it to 100/300K. And I always carry GAP bc I rarely ever put enough down to cover depreciation. It was one thing when I was younger to put myself in financial jeopardy, or even just the wife and I. But when you throw a child and owning a home in the mix you start thinking differently about things.

Not saying it has anything to do with your situation. Just agreeing with what was posted previously by some one else.

After I wrecked mine I upped all our coverage's as I didn't fully understand how they worked. Then I realized if there was another party involved I might have been screwed. Plus we were buying a house over half a mill so we had to protect that too. After renting for my whole life I never knew they could go after your home as well if you don't have sufficient auto coverage... So now I have a $1M Liability policy on my home as well. People are way to sue happy these days...
