I finished my shifter install, was worried about NVH, turned out great!

I was worried that no matter how you jack you car up you would induce stress in the chassis. So I put mine 12" in the air on all four tires with piles of 6x6 blocks. Rolled it back and forth to relieve stress in the suspension from being lifted 6" at time side to side. Followed the video had my tablet under the car downloaded the video into mp3 file so stop frames were easy to view.

DID ONE THING NOT MENTIONED IN VIDEO, TOOK MAGIC MARKER AND OULINED WHERE THE TRANNY MOUNT WAS BEFORE UNBOLTING IT.

Upon reassemble after raising the tranny and hand starting the bolts and removing the jack the tranny mount was 1/2" off from where we started. Had to grab drive shaft and move it back. Without the marks would never
nown.

Had to adjust the reverse lockout, it was loose and had no 1stt or 2nd gear, but that was easy

So took for a drive with boot out, console off, could see right to ground. Wanted to if the voodoo did shake. MINE DON'T UP TO 7000 RPM

Glad it worked out. It's too late now, but I had done the attached write-up as a supplement to the video.

Yes I read your instructions, maybe thats where I got the idea? but great minds think alike. What surprised me was as carefully as i was it didn't come back to the original spot without help.! I actually think I have less NVH than factory shifter.

I did a couple of slow get to know your shifter, then a few quick runs with moderate throttle, then a both feet on the floor romp. Finally some speed, and its so solid you can just bang those shifts. Now I can appreciate that tranny.

Thats a GREAT idea to mark the crossmember. I will look into adding it to the notes on the video.,

We leave ALL the GT350 shifters loose deliberately on the 1-2 lockout because people were NOT adjusting it and then complaining that it was not engaging 1-2 properly. There are a lot of variances from car to car so we decided to make it extremely off so that you are forced to adjust it properly on your particular car.:cheers:

Just got home from my 80 mile ride home with my new MGW shifter. For whatever reason I didn't realize it would be a pushdown reverse now. Feels a bit weird finding first too. I misses getting though a stoplight because I was in 3rd and not first. I'll get used to it.

As for my other upgrades...I'm not liking my Kooks exhaust/headers. INSANLY loud. Too loud for me. And a tin-y grinding sound. I'm bummed. I feel like I ruined my car.

I like to disassemble things.
What exhaust pieces are in place after the headers?

Sounds like you need to adjust the reverse lockout, mine has no trouble With 1 or 2 up or down. Watch the video on MGW page.

I'm thinking the spring is in the handle section take apart and cut coil or two off the spring. I've heard it loosen with use?

Cutting the spring will increase its rate thus requiring even more effort.

I'm just guessing, but a coil spring in compression if shortened will have less preload, thus lighter, now if you stretching it that's different. Since I have not taken it apart I don't which is being used.

We OVER engineer the springs for both the 1-2 and the reverse lockout because all springs get a SET and lose about 10-15 percent of their force after a few hundred cycles.

give it about a month and you will love the action and feel. as far as going into 1st at a standstill USE THAT hardened lockout plate so push over until it stops and then straight up. same when going 1-2 pull slightly to the drivers door against the plate and slide right down.

Make sure you adjusted that 1-2 lockout pin properly like in the video and it will feel perfect!!

For reverse, over time mine seemed to loosen up while my right arm simultaneously got stronger!

As for being in 3rd, when you thought you were in 1st, I have the same issue from time to time. I've learned that after I put it in first, I move the shift lever to the left - If I hear the lockout pin click against the plate, I'm there; if I hear a thud, I'm in 3rd and need to try again. Sometimes, shifting into 2nd then 1st resolves the issue. It's happening less and less as time goes on.

My lock-out pin is adjusted properly, I think I have an issue with my TR3160 (not the MGW). Prior to the MGW install, I had a 1st gear pop-out issue quite often.

As things wear in you might need second adjust on the lock out. Its a little tricky to adjust so that your right in the middle of sweet spot for the first gear gate.

Or your just not pulling enough to the left to over come centering springs. Like you said the spring may take set or your arm gets stronger.

I had the opportunity to row the gears in a parked GT350 with the OEM shifter yesterday; OEM shifter felt fine - definitely one of the better OEMs I've tried/had. The throws were much lighter and longer than the MGW. With the MGW, the shift knob sits ~1 inch lower towards the console due to the elimination of the reverse pull-up. That certainly helps reduce the throw, along with whatever magic is happening in the shifter housing. The MGW has a much stiffer action while parked, but loosens up on the move, without losing any precision. I have absolutely no regrets on the change.

Got to drive mine for the first time in 3 weeks - man, this car is just fantastic!
