Yes this has been my problem with the Mach 1 from day 1. GT350 light in terms of performance, but for too close to GT350 money. Makes a Camaro SS 1LE look like a screaming deal even before you factor in the likely discounts.
If all you’re looking at is horsepower then yeah the crapmaro is a great deal. Otherwise it’s horrible to drive and the trunk is useless. I’d rather have a vette.
Look at the M2 at $65k, This makes the Mach look like a screaming deal

so i went to my dealership yesterday for an oil change and while i was there i asked my long time salesman to spec a Mach 1 for me.
twister orange
handling package
red calipers

priced it at $60,000 even.
your long time salesman didn't do you any favors. $60k is full msrp the way you have it optioned.

yeah lets forget about the alpha chassis and having the tremec 6060 transmission. to me the camaro is far from horrible to drive lol. i can only assume you mean the visibility which i still to this day have no issue with at all.

the vettes are super nice though.

sure, my pricing was just directed at him saying the value of the 1le.

i really wanted a mach 1 until i saw the price of it vs a 1le. Driving the 1le made my decision easier.
Absolutely, 100%. I'm betting you could afford the Mach 1 but your head overruled your heart. Nothing wrong with that. And you got an awesome car as well. Maybe there will be a used Mach 1 in your future.

You can't see out of it and you can't even put golf clubs in the trunk.
Yes, its a better track car than the GT but personally I need a balance between practical and sport

i see just fine. The rear view mirror camera also makes the rear window a non issue. i can see everything behind me. I think it depends on your body build, and proportions. But at 6'4 ~205 i see very well. Also consider i came from a honda s2000 not long ago, so maybe that affects my judgement.

i can understand your personal use. fortunately i do not need golf clubs. However, i would wager you can in deed fit them. The trunk i believe is larger than the mustang, the opening is just smaller.

practicality is a very small concern for myself otherwise i would still have my truck.

yeah, i was considering waiting for the mach 1 before making my decision. Ended up selling my mustang for more than i put in to it, and very happy with my new car.

ive always loved the mach 1, so i could definitely see myself getting the newer one someday.

Well, to each their own.
The opening of any trunk becomes the problem with the tr

Nope, I love my GT/CS. It’s everything I wanted and more. Plan is to keep it 10 years or so. Unless I hit the lottery. Then it’s a GT500.

price was not msrp. MSRP of my 2ss 1le was about the same as a few pp1 mustang around me; which to me is a no brainer. 1ss 1le was ~45k msrp give or take depending on some additional options.

i was then also able to talk down the camaro much more than the mustang.

sorry adam, the MSRP comment was for Atlas, wasnt stating what you paid on your SS.
but like i said if you got ss 1le for $45k that is a really good deal! also sounds like you have
an extra $15k in your pocket to buy other things....
i looked at camaro before i got the mustang but salesmen just laughed at me, i guess i looked like i couldnt afford it. unfortunately they assumed too much and now i dont do business with them, and never will.

When it comes to the 1LE, I can totally understand the value proposition. While I do think the Mach 1 will be faster, the 1LE will be DAMN close for about $10k less

But when you start bringing Shelbys into the mix... well, those have the worst value to performance proposition of pretty much any Mustang or Camaro

SINBUSTER007, you cannot justify the cost of a Mach 1. What's wrong with that? You are doing you. Screw the "stupid" comments. Just MHO!
The way I read Sinbuster's post was that it's nearly as hard to justify car prices in general as it is to justify the Mach 1's in particular. I agree, partly because I remember what car prices have been over the years and partly because when you're living on a mostly fixed income, option prices and price increases in general only serve to sound even less reasonable.

"Justification" to me is more about what the mfrs do when they set their MSRPs than it is about any given individual's willingness to pay them (assuming that the ability to pay them at least exists).

'Need' is really just a one-word substitute for 'non-negotiable want' no?
