So I damaged my lower splitter, upper splitter and belly pan recently hitting debris and I fixed it myself for $1600 in parts. For me it was an easy decision:

1) No insurance claim or potential for raised rates, and my deductible is $500

2) I fixed it and know it was done right

3) No claim on my CARFAX which would likely report it as a front end collision resulting in 1000’s in losses if I were ever to sell the car

4) I’m not particularly busy at the moment.

That is the transmission cooler and if it’s the only damage it is a pretty quick and easy repair after you pull the belly pan or drop the bumper. I don’t think you’ll find aftermarket parts available that will fit.

Rob makes a good point. I just went to Rock Auto to see if they even list a transmission cooler for a 2021 Mustang. Nothing shown for the 5.0. But they DID show one for the 5.2SC GT500. There was an OE part and 2 "aftermarket" shown. If I recall, the Mach and GT500 are the same cooler. But don't take my word for it.
OEM parts might be the only thing available. Either way, insist on original parts.

I wish he would of told me it's a ding on my Insurance for 3 years .
think about paying yourself , it maybe cheaper in a long run .
It was dark and who knows how long it was out there but it put a hole in the transmission and other minor stuff. Thousands to fix. No ding on insurance at all.
I am not worried about this increasing my premium. I was not at fault as it shows on my claim.
Any claim on your insurance will raise the rate upon renewal.
Hello; A round 2 3/4 years ago rodents chewed the wiring in my engine compartment. Was told to check with my insurance. They agreed it was covered. I failed to ask all the right questions. I was told it would not count against my record. Maybe so but I learned about two weeks ago it increased my cost for three years. I will be clear of the "ding" next March.
I found out by checking on the cost of insurance for a potential 2025 GT purchase. Cost was higher than expected by a good amount. I made a long post on how I found out in a different thread on here.

I had believed since the rodent damage was not "my fault" it did not count against me. Perhaps not the same way a collision would count against me, but there is a cost penalty. I had not noticed because my two current vehicles are older so the % bump did not stand out. I had been with the company over 13 years at the time. Had my house with them as well.
Since there were no new aftermarket nor OEM parts available, I bought a salvage yard engine wire harness & fuse block on my own dime. I did not ask for a rental for the three months the truck was down. Drove my car and postponed jobs I use my truck for. Does not seem to matter to the insurance company.

I do not know the difficulty of replacing an oil cooler. But yeah, it might cost more in the long run to go with the insurance. I would try to do it myself.

Time to rethink my insurance.

It doesn't matter who is at fault. If your insurance has to pay, then your premium will go up. Insurance companies care about 1 thing, - Profit margins. They do not exist to help or protect you.

 Yeah I get it. Now I am just waiting for the new estimate to see how to move forward. I am leaning towards having it towed home to do it myself.

I did this to my wife’s Volvo c30 once. Severed the transmission cooler line, thing started shifting and slipping and bucking so I put in neutral and coasted to a stop and waited for a tow truck. Of course this is after i told my wife everything was fine and i was sure i didn't damage anything

Pretty sure I was deemed at fault by insurance since it’s the drivers job to avoid obstacles. Lucky it didn’t damage anything else, it was a big piece of scrap metal/construction material from some asshole who didn’t cover his load in the pickup bed. I dont remember our insurance going up though.

That car had some of the worst headlights i've ever seen, i swear they were properly aimed, just not bright enough.

Check, but I doubt there are any aftermarket parts to replace that oil cooler or your splitter. If you punched a bumper or headlight on a ford escape (or my tacoma which just swapped bumpers with an outback), but for that oil cooler I bet OEM is the only game in town.

I used to be an agent and we encouraged clients to call us first, and not the insurance company when asking "what if" questions. We provided answers to our clients based on experience with many clients and that was free, without risk. If you talk directly with the insurance company, most log the event, whether or not it you actually make a claim. (They ask for your name, policy number, etc. and some insurers may not even talk with you unless you give them your data. You can guess the potential repercussions of giving that basic information, even if you choose to not make a claim.)

You can get the shop manual on-line.
Are you referring to buying the shop manual from Heim, or is there a 2021 Mach 1 shop manual on-line from Ford?

Helm Inc. only shows the CD ROM (!) I don't know if I have anything with a working drive!
The other choices are USB, and paper. If you click on either of those, you get "Error 404".

The only on-line option I have found for a complete manual is only up to 2014. Youtube can get you through 90% of anything. Look at comments. Look for the people who actually know what they're doing. The next option is go to your local Autozone or whomever. They will usually pull up specific pages for you. If you have an established relationship with your local Ford dealer, they might even print some pages for you...

Hello; Yes the rodents need to go. I now try several things to keep them at bay. I use peppermint oil in the engine compartment along with moth balls in a mesh bag. Put some irish spring soap in as well. Was using dryer sheets but a recent post says that does not work.
I prop the hood open at night with a light shinning into the engine compartment. I pulled the soffit covers off my carport to find nesting stuff so have left the soffits open.
Maybe the best thing is a stray cat has been staying under my neighbors shed. I have been putting food out for it. Maybe it will be a good mouser.

I think squirrels chewed into my soffit and had stashed walnuts & food for the winter. The food attracted

As alluded to above, once the insurance company is notified, the damage is done to your insurance rate. Might as well let them pay to fix it now... Similar to if a police report is filed for an accident and you don't go to insurance, it is still logged on your and the car's record. Once it's visited the body shop, the car is likely already flagged as accident damaged.

The best option is the factory workshop manual. You can buy a 3 day subscription, and then download the sections you need. Or all of it. Takes some time but well worth it if you wrench on your own car.
