This might be a good follow up question: At which RPM you set up your weird shit orange light to go off? šŸ˜„

My shift light is / was at 7100 (my engine and tune are standard) but I was right on the verge of buzzing the limiter when I shifted - sometimes would, sometimes wouldn’t.

I have tweaked the shift light down to 7000 now but I haven’t had a ā€˜spirited’ drive to check if it works better for me.

I’m not sure if :

A) My reaction was a bit slower than the rate of the revs climbing or

B) What the soft limiter is set at on a euro or

C) If there is a lag in the digital dash display.

I should really hook up the OBD and see what a log says.

7000 is proving to be just about right (for me), I’ve not buzzed the limiter once - even on the 1st / 2nd shift :like:

Thanks for the link to the other thread about the RPM shift point, I leave it here explicitly for anyone who might miss it:

It just happened to me recently that I busted the redline and it scared me because it felt like the engine shut itself down for a split of second. I was in a full acceleration and did not realize the 3rd gear was so short šŸ˜„, so I crossed the line. Now I am considering setting the orange light indicator to be on the safe side.

when I drive for myself, I enjoy the tacho's color change to orange. Set as below at 5500 plus. If I have to be quiet, I shift earlier. My poor average consumption - practically unchanged at just over 4000- miles is a testament to the habit.

RPM come on really quick at WOT. Situation awareness comes into play- watching the road, eye on the tach and quick shift with a M6 S550. Throw in wheel spin and steering adjustments and you have your hands full. That's why they are so much fun.

7500 is the only correct answer...J/K. In all seriousness, in every manual car I have driven/owned, with time, you will feel what feels like a "nartual" shift point for each gear. For me it seems to land around hte 2700-3000k mark for this car. However, if you are in "light to light racer" traffic, you are going to piss a lot of people off shift that low, Ill usually go up to 3500 ish, which get you up to speed quicker, obviusly. Drive the car, and at some point you will feel whati s right for you, and what the car naturally likes.

I cant wait to experience this beauty of instrument cluster, I feel like the Mustang digital dash is one of the best currently.

Best fuel economy? Thats an oxymoron in a Mach 1 and a joke from Ford! There exists no concept of fuel economy in this machine. You may as well drive the heck out of it.
It's meant for the times when you cannot drive the heck out of it. Some cities are big and crowded, driving like a crazy person there is not very appreciated 😁

It shall never return the fuel efficiency of Prius and Co. Just drive and enjoy the machine, fuel economy be damned!
Speaking of this, they did a test on Top Gear once. A Prius was driven round their track as fast as it would go. A BMW M3 was behind it, doing nothing more than just try to keep up. The fuel consumption was noticeably worse in the Prius than in the M3. 😁

Yes, but even when you're not driving like a maniac you should still not shift like that.

I don't buy that you need to be over 2000 rpm when driving at constant speed. 10R80 in D shows to me that the car has no issue to be at 1300 rpm at constant speed. 35 mph in gear 8 is fine for flying through town. Not talking about any kind of acceleration ofc, just shifting at constant speed after reaching it. But with manual I'd probably do it at bit higher rpms too. I don't use D very often 😁
