Thanks again Brent, good luck w the wrist!BLUF: You should be able to mitigate most of the risk with changing to a thicker fluid.
We(GT PP owners) think the overheating of the diff is isolated to the 3.73 diff's(torsen) only. The other interesting thing is no one with a 15 GT performance package(temp sensor not present until 16 pp) seems to have reported a diff failure. However, 16+ performance package cars are able to monitor diff temp through the ngauge or forscan lite and, on track, temps are getting close to 300F in some situations. We have seen a drop in temp rise with the 75w110 and 75w140 fluid. I'd type more, but i have a broken wrist and am a 1 finger bandit right now.
How big a temp drop w the thicker diff fluid?
What brand have you guys used?
Is it compliant w Ford specs?
One word/number answers acceptable...
