Im not making any assumptions. Youre free to speak with UnleashedBeast on svt if you like. You know what happens when you assume. Car makers are not building cars to last anymore. They want to sell you more cars. If you believe a voodoo running 5w50 is going to last 100+k on its MC using the car as ford intended on a 5k cycle, i have a bridge to sell you.
Show me some evidence that car makers aren't building cars to last, so I can believe that you aren't making any assumptions. I own an Explorer and an F-250, both of which have over 220,000 miles on them. When you make a statement like this, it makes it much harder for me to believe any of the other statements you make. Very hard to believe you aren't just saying random things with no facts at all behind them.

I'm not running boutique oils in either of those cars.

So if you want to lay money down on whether Voodoos running Motorcraft on a 5k oil change cycle with some occasional track days will last over 100k miles - I'm in!! Put your money where your mouth is.

At the end of the day guys please use what Ford specs for your 350.

At a minimum use 5w-50 motorcraft and an OEM filter.

In the manual it clearly states to only use a 5w-50 that meets ford specs. It also says using any filter other than OEM can cause engine damage.

We all have our favorite filters and oils but on a car like this it's best to play it safe and follow the guidelines.

"It is, because I say it so." Is not really convincing....
Couldnt care less. Not my job to compile lists and sources on info for everyone, or create a study. Apparently being an ex ford master tech doesnt count nor does doing my own research over decades and brushing up on current oil regularly :headbonk:

Have any more "Ford-approved" oils been added to the list?
Amsoil 5W50 signature series is supposed to be approved.

I can't imagine any other non-specific oil filter having a 100PSI or higher bypass rating. Oil pressures on this thing is insane.

Amsoil 5W50 signature meets the Ford spec. After running Motorcraft in my GT500 and testing oil samples then comparing the Amsoil tests it is all I run. The oil samples and subsequent trends for the 5.4L/5.8L engine are quite clear. Nothing wrong with Motorcraft 5W50 but I for one am convinced a higher grade base stock in Amsoil is the way to go from both testing trends and personal test results. To each their own.

Just don't run Redline oil 5W50. Good oil but tests in the 5.4L/5.8L show it is not a good oil for those engines (high metal in tests-bearings) but not sure on the Voodoo. Not worth the risk though.

I'm not saying that Amsoil is better than every other oil out there, but I will say that factory Ford oil is worse than just about every oil out there. The shear rate on it is insane. I would switch mine to some type of full synthetic after the break in period.

There are UOAs on other forums posted on how thin the Ford oil gets in a very short time. Check into it if you want to see it in black and white.
Ford Motorcraft 5W50 is full synthetic
