Greg, slow your roll. OP knew this wasn’t possible, even said as much. I found it humorous and a lesson for anyone to never believe anything said by a car salesman.

If it were me, I would have fried the salesman and gotten my $16 oil change.
Yes I agree and correct same rereading what was posted... thanks for saying :handshake:

Seriously guys, now we are beating up on Porsche's. I'm sorry but if I had an extra $200k laying around I'd buy on of these in a heartbeat. Right after I bought my Aston Martin :giggle:

It looks terrible. Performance though is a marvel but I did gap a newer one pretty hard. Obviously it was not the Turbo S.

From the Roush manual:

Engine Oil and Filter
Change your oil every 6 months or 5,000 miles, whichever occurs first, using Motorcraft SAE 5W-50 Full Synthetic Motor Oil. This should be done more frequently if high operating temperatures are encountered, or the vehicle is run hard for extended periods such as on a racetrack. The Motorcraft oil filter FL-500-S should be replaced every time you change your oil.

There might be a difference in requirements for warranty coverage (or recommendations) between Roush vehicles and regular GTs equipped with a Roush SC. I get my Motorcraft 5/50 from Rock Auto. It is around 7.50 per quart. Keep in mind that Roush is strongly affiliated with Ford so if one chooses to have a dealer do service, you do not need a specific Roush service center. My Ford dealer can do service, Roush warranty work or tune updates, etc.

Pft, Porsche. Bugatti Veyron oil change costs $21000.
True I pay ~$20k for oil change in my Veyron, but I make up for it by running 87 octane.

Pft. Throw some banana peels into a pot in the backyard & whatever juice is there after a month, throw it in the tank.

I wasn't trying to start an argument about the relative merits of Porsches, just making an observation about oil change costs. The Ford dealer charged $54 for the oil change in my GT and it takes 2 quarts more than the $450 Porsche oil change.

Ok this makes more sense, am a firm believer of Roush products.

Ok, someone with a Porsche (is it Porshhh or Portia?) in the KC area come give me a ride. I need to be convinced of the hype. Looks are subjective, so I guess I could get used to the styling. But for that kind of coin, I really don't want to have to take it to the dealer for everything. But then again, if I could afford a Porsche, I wouldn't be worried about the cost of an oil change.
Mosey down to Little Rock for a Cars and Coffee sometime (3rd Saturday of each month). I'll bring the GT3, because your first ride in a 911 should be in a good one. You can be the judge.

Also, my most recent Porsche oil change was $350. My first oil change in the GT350, at a local dealer (not the one who sold me the car) was $275, which didn't shock me as much as it should have, given the costs others have posted. Time to find a different dealer...

I mean... don't go to the dealer then...?

My supercharged Audi costs me 270 dollars at the dealer but my independent guy who runs a VW/Audi race shop does it for 100.

If you want to light your money on fire be my guest but owning german performance cars doesn't have to be as expensive as people are making it out to be in this thread...

When I bought my car, I shopped a number of dealers, finally setting on one who gave me the right combination of price and a reasonable distance to my house. When I placed the order, the sales advisor was going over all the benefits I would get from buying there, including "lifetime $16 oil changes".

I said that couldn't be right, as the car takes 10 quarts of semi-synthetic, not 5 quarts of dino oil. Nope, he insisted that it was a benefit all the customers of the dealership received - $16 oil changes for life, as an incentive to get people into the service bays.

Reality intruded this morning when the service manager's hair started moving when he was asked to sign off on the price drop on the annual change, after the tech used 10 bottles of oil from the parts department when they didn't have a bulk drum of the right oil. Much harumphing. We agreed on a $30 discount off the price to do it (I like these guys too much for other reasons to be an asshole about it), but I'm going to enjoy squeezing the salesman's shoes later today regarding overselling things.
I get 'Free oil changes for life' for my Bullitt; getting the fourth or fifth in a week. GF bought a Fusion from same dealer and she gets them too. They advertise them on the local FM station.

My Porsche oil change cost me a little over $300 and it took about an an hour and a half for the dealer service tech to do it. I traded the Cayman for my Mustang before the next service interval.
That make no sense at all on the cayman The oil filter and drain plug are very accessible, just in the bottom of the engine
Lift the back of the car and it’s a 15 minutes job
The oil cap is inside the rear hatch and you access it by flipping a cover
A $100 tool is needed to reset the oil change computer

It's a comfort level thing. I really trust the dealer I go to. Besides, I only change the oil and do other services once a year on any of our vehicles, because they don't get driven much. I drive an average of 1600 miles a year on each car. I drive less than 5000 miles a year, total. I have had my Mustang for almost 2 years and have driven it 2600 miles. I spend more money on insurance than anything else.

While we're on the topic of Porsches....

A Cayman GTS 4.0 is on my short list of potential next fun cars. They're not that hard to change oil in, and I'd do it myself. However, the current engine issues with the 4.0s coupled with the nearest dealer being two hours away are factors against it. And one equipped to my liking is right at my self-imposed cost limit for a car I would rarely use (my Mustang just cracked 10K miles).

For a long time my all-time dream car is/has been a new 911 Turbo S. But they've always been, and always will be, out of reach for this mere mortal. In my opinion, they're the ultimate usable performance car.
