It not only added a good 10% HP, it was FREE. I call it the ELEVATION TUNE. LOL I took my GT from Reno NV to Fairfield CA. Man does this car like the change in elevation. Sacramento area of CA is like 500 ft elevation compared to the 4600 ft in Reno. It felt like I had added a tune to the car. Throttle response seemed better and off the line acceleration was nuts. It almost made me want to move back to CA, ALMOST. I'm back home now and it almost feels like someone pulled a spark plug wire off. I may just have to say F it to the warranty and get a tuner with tune.

At first I was somewhat excited (yet still pessimistic because ghost tunes are often not true) by the thread title lol.

I know the feeling, somewhat. When I was at the strip last time, I just couldn't break into the 12's. But after I account for the density altitude, my best run matched magazine times (12.87 @ 112mph) after the conversion - I was at 3117 DA that day.

I bet running a real high 12 feels better than running a real low 13 lol.

LOL yep the DA is a bitch. I get so much hate for posting timeslips and videos on youtube and forums because I race at Atco. Anyone with bad DA like in Arizona for instance. Cant understand how a bolt-on car is running 11s. Or the runs shouldn't count because Atco is such a fast track with it's negative DA.

When do you usually go to the track Blue? The "Tomato" is finally broken in now (after the trip to Arizona) and I would like to go. A couple friends of mine usually go on Wednesday nights. PM me if you want to go sometime.

Take it easy,

I know the elevation tune very well! I live at 7,000 feet in Colorado. I've taken a road trip to Las Vegas (elevation there is about 1,500 feet I think) and it's like a whole new car.

It felt so slow when I got back to CO I was worried something was wrong with it.

Been thinking about getting a Whipple.

That is correct sir. I grew up in the Bay Area where you are from. Outside of the nice moderate temps., the place sucks now. By sucks, I mean wayyyyyy too much traffic and housing costs that are through the roof. I lived in Belmont, San Mateo, So.S.Fran., San Jose, Saratoga, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Fremont, and then Pleasanton before moving to the Sacramento Valley in 1989. Then I lived in Roseville, Lincoln, Yuba City, Modesto, and lastly Bakersfield before moving to Reno. In Reno I have no state income tax, no state disability insurance, to get a CCW is just a matter of being able to pass the Federal Background Check, and when I buy a gun, I take it home with me that day for zero fees (because I have a CCW).

The wife was on temp assignment in Fairfield for work, and I went there to visit her over the weekend. The traffic on HWY 80 out there is just NUTS! This is her last week there and she can't wait to get back home.

Like I said, the only good thing was the added power my S550 had, but I can easily fix that with FI.

Oh ok - having grown up here, I do agree that traffic is getting out of control. I'm lucky enough to afford housing, so that's not too much of a concern - keeps the riff-raff away, anyway

As for guns, I literally could not care less about my ability to ever purchase one, so that doesnt factor into where I live.

I value this specific area for the weather, lack of crime, shopping/dining options, and proximity to family. If it wasn't for them all being within 10-15 minutes of our house, I wouldnt hesitate to explore other nice options...I just couldnt live somewhere like Reno/Las Vegas (I did live in Las Vegas for a few months on a work assignment) Phoenix, etc...or anywhere that gets more than a dusting of snow. Norcal has made me soft, but I know myself, and it suits me here

I have not had my GT back home yet to Michigan, but my Charger R/T R/T certainly had the "elevation" tune difference felt.
