Yeah, it’s not as complicated as it sounds. BMW has used cartridge style oil filters for a very long time. Just need the right size socket. The little cover over the drain plug is just part of the aero - the entire underside of the Z4 / Supra is covered in aero panels. At least they give you a little door to get to the drain plug. Some car makes do not and you have to take the entire panel off. I’ve never had to adjust the oil fill level after an oil change, but it is true there is no dip stick. The oil level is checked through the center dash screen, and as long as the car is at operating temp, which it should be for an oil change, it takes about 90 seconds or less. There is a rumor that BMW is bringing back the dip stick though. Resetting the oil service display does not require to connect anything to the vehicle, except in very rare cases, it’s all done through the odometer reset button. Takes a few seconds.

My buddy got banned from an N54 forum once while he owned a 335is because he talked about the very real turbo and fuel pump failures hah

Well obviously, they don't want to tarnish the reputation of Superior German Engineering.
Ford avoids that sort of thing by pre-tarnishing their reputation.

My Porsche oil change cost me a little over $300 and it took about an an hour and a half for the dealer service tech to do it. I traded the Cayman for my Mustang before the next service interval.
I also sold my 2015 Cayman, a GTS with PDK. and bought a 2020 Mustang GT Deluxe, Performance Package 1, A-10, added Power Pack 2, for another 21 HP, now at 481. Prior to the Power Pack 2, We went a 1 day event at Willow Springs, aka Big Willow the 2.5 mile track, where this little beast would hit 143 MPH before braking for Turn 1....my first time with a front engine rear wheel drive car at a track. At Buttonwillow Raceway, Race 1 CW, got a 2:09, DECENT, but can see how a sub-2:00 minute time could be achieved. Need some more track time....Brakes will get hot, so adding 1 mm titanium ships behind the racing pads, wind deflectors. Diff can get hot, added exhaust wrapping fore and aft of the diff to the exhaust pipes. It helped, no overheat indicator light went off. Tranny has a somewhat flimsy IMHO built in cooler, and no oil cooler. The message when you go to the track, watch your gauges......also, if you were to drive in sport plus mode, turn off traction control. Leave it on and you'll eat your rear brakes. I just have forgotten because when I went to the dealer the rear pads were down to 1.5mm....under warranty, Ford replaced my rear rotors and pads.. Confession, I went out on racing front pads, and stock rear pads, couldn't seem to locate any rear race brake pads on fairly short notice....now I have them and will have track pads installed front and rear. I own one of the junkier Porsches - an '86 944 NA. I like it enough that I'm constantly fantasizing about an LS swap. It's a tiny car. I'm 6'4" and I have a wide build. I sit on top of the bolsters in the Mustang seats and they are somewhat uncomfortable for me because they are too narrow. The ergonomics in that tiny Porsche are awesome. I have a lot of head room and the steering wheel and pedals are positioned very well.

The car has 50/50 weight distribution and weighs about 3,000 lbs. It feels like a little go-kart. The chassis is much stiffer than the 2004 Z06 I used to own. I bought the Z06 because of the Porsche. The one thing I hate about the Porsche is it doesn't have enough power. I wanted a light, low car with a transaxle and V8. But I didn't fit well enough in the Z06. I didn't fit at all with a helmet. So the Z06 is gone but I still have the Porsche and I still want to do that engine swap.

The newer Porsches I think are a little too good to be fun on the street. Too much grip and the power comes at high RPM. And I think they are too expensive for what you get. I always try to get the most I can out of my money.
I love driving my Mustang, but it can't come close to the 944. The Mustang has way too much Explorer in it. On the plus side, i can reach the drive thru ATM now.

I’m trying to figure out how many BMW oil changes I’ve done over the years. If you figure working days per year on average and an average of 4 a day, it’s roughly 22,300 oil changes. 4 a day is probably conservative but it’s a best guess average over 21.5 years. I suppose you could say I have sufficient experience to be knowledgeable in BMW oil changes.
