When I bought my car, I shopped a number of dealers, finally setting on one who gave me the right combination of price and a reasonable distance to my house. When I placed the order, the sales advisor was going over all the benefits I would get from buying there, including "lifetime $16 oil changes".
I said that couldn't be right, as the car takes 10 quarts of semi-synthetic, not 5 quarts of dino oil. Nope, he insisted that it was a benefit all the customers of the dealership received - $16 oil changes for life, as an incentive to get people into the service bays.
Reality intruded this morning when the service manager's hair started moving when he was asked to sign off on the price drop on the annual change, after the tech used 10 bottles of oil from the parts department when they didn't have a bulk drum of the right oil. Much harumphing. We agreed on a $30 discount off the price to do it (I like these guys too much for other reasons to be an asshole about it), but I'm going to enjoy squeezing the salesman's shoes later today regarding overselling things.
