Gets wired in to the fuse box and then you point the antenna towards where you put the transmitter (keypad).

I have not done this (yet.....) but seems relatively simple viewing the installation guides I have now seen online.
Why on earth would you need anything wired into the car? The key pad is just another key fob. All you have to do is train it to the car.

They do stick out but all you have to do is stick in to the inside of your gas cap door and you'll never see it (or anyone else) and it still do what you need it to. Problem solved
Uh no. You NEVER want to put electronic devices on the inside of your fuel door. Stupid stupid idea. Especially with the capless fuel tanks ford uses now.

I really wouldn't worry about it. Low current and voltage. Out of the weather as well.

Yah well the last 10 years of one being in 2 different cars and one without a gas cap and I'm still here giving bad advice.

Kinda debunks your theory

I think SeaStang took it a smidgen too far, but I do think there's some validity in his theory. IF you were to get some moisture in there via condensation, etc., and it were to get into the keypad and cause a short, it could cause a spark right near gasoline vapor which could be a very bad thing. The chances are probably infinitesimally small, though.

Its not the low voltage you have to worry about. One wrong spark and it could cause the fuel to ignite. You don't place ANYTHING with a battery at an open fuel point.

Good news people! For those of you who want the keyless entry pad, it seems as though the 2015 will have it. The owner's guide mentions it several times in it. (the first time I saw it I thought it was a typo but I kept recurring)

On page 56:
"Switch Inhibitor:
When you electronically lock your vehicle, the power door lock button and interior luggage compartment release button, after 20 seconds, no longer operate. You must unlock your vehicle with the remote control or keyless keypad, or switch on the ignition,
to restore function to these buttons. You can switch this feature on or off in the information display"....
...."Unlocking the Doors (Two-Stage
Unlock)
[...] Driver-door unlock mode only unlocks the driver door when you press the unlock button once. All-door unlock mode unlocks all doors with one press of the unlock button. The unlocking mode applies to the remote control, keyless entry keypad and intelligent access. You can also change the mode in the information display"

On Page 57: "Smart Unlocks [...] You can override the smart unlock feature
and intentionally lock the intelligent access key inside your vehicle. To do this, lock your
vehicle after you have closed all the doors by:
• Using the keyless entry keypad.
• Pressing the lock button on another intelligent access key.
• Touching the locking area on the handle with another intelligent access key in your hand."

That's all I've read so far. I'm not saying it's guaranteed but it certainly seems to hint that the feature is there. Do me the favor of taking it with a grain of salt. Don't jump down my throat if you find something different further in. I just figured I'd post it when I saw it.

Awesome news! I hadn't made it very far into the newly posted manual yet.

My only concern is that it doesn't discuss programming the keyless entry, so the Securicode mention could be an error and just a copy over from another ford vehicle. So, the keyless entry could be referring to getting the accessory posted earlier in this thread.

My question is, why list the numbers in pairs if it's only one button???

Yea I just finished looking through it, and I didn't see anything about programming it either. So you could very well be correct in your statement. Guess ultimately we'll all just have to wait and see.

I just looked up the 2014 Fusion owner's manual which we know has the built in keypad and in the locks section it has a large wealth of information about programming it as well as features that aren't in the Mustang manual.

I hope it has been accidentally omitted considering the multiple mentions of the keypad elsewhere but it's hard to say.

Yah we've seen plenty of pictures of cars at this point and by the way some of us use a microscope to find new things there is no way a illuminated key pad on the B pillar would have been missed.

Too bad though as I would have loved one

could have been something not added yet as the manual alludes to having struts instead of a prop rod on page 211. We just don't know yet, i've contacted ford service asking about it. we'll see what they say. There's room on the rear quarter on standard and LE models but nothing for the vert. So again we'll see
