Really. Who leaves their car keys in their car on purpose? Sounds like a use case scenario for like 5 people total.

I've used it for at the beach in Florida and also running in the convenience store in NH when it's -20F and you leave the car running.
When you return, punch in the code and it unlocks.
Its a Mustang not a $100,000 one of a kind car.

I use the number pads on the door of the 2012 Edge.
I love this feature.. I can leave my dog in the car, with the car and AC running and lock the doors, when I need to run into the store.
I also leave my keys in the car and lock it when I'm playing golf.
Sometimes I'll grab my VW keys and leave my house keys at home. My wife will put the house keys in the ford and lock the door. I love having access to the car without a key or key fob.

This is normally a dealer-added option, but I have to be honest -- I don't know how it would work with the keyless entry on the car, since the system specifically prevents the doors from being locked from the outside if the key's still in the car, so you don't lock yourself out.

I have this exact setup on my '13 Fusion Ti. Intelligent access and keyless entry. Using the keypad to lock key in car overrides the accidental lock keys in car scenario. Use it on my F-150 when I go biking, no fob dangling in my pocket.

I agree this would be really nice for taking your car to the beach or going running but you could always just do a hide a key for those situations. And lock the car from the inside might i add

I have this on the fusion, never used it. Why would I? Never quite got it, I always have my keys on me no matter what
I have had the keypad on four cars, I believe, including my current MKZ, and use it all the time. Not only can I get in the trunk at home when I don't have the keys on me, but I find it VERY convenient at the gym, water park or bike ride start to lock the keys IN the car rather than carry them. Then I just use the combo lock to let myself back in. One of the best tech features ever, as far as I am concerned. I don't believe the 6G Mustang will have it, and that's a bit disappointing. The remote fob access is cool, and so is the keyless start button, but the combo lock is really handy.

My friend had this on her early 2000's explorer. We figured out that by randomly pressing the first two buttons it would let us in about 80% of the time. After a couple good pranks she turned it off. That being said wouldn't be too hard to sit with a pair of binoculars and watch the code get put in.

For me it's a mental thing. It would always be on my mind and drive me crazy knowing that someone could break my window and drive away with the keys.

KEYLESS entry is different than Intelligent Access.

Keyless entry has the numbers you have to punch in to get in the door. You can also lock your keys with KEYLESS entry with keys inside if you either punch in your code or hold the last 2 sets of number at the same time.

Intellifgent access is where the door handle detects your hand on it and your keyfob nearby to open the door without use of key.

I meant intelligent access or whatever ford branded it... All the mustangs have it that's what I was referring to

That would happen no matter what, if anyone of us really wanted to.
I lock my keys in the car all the time. Just don't put the key somewhere obviously visible.
