I took mine off because they don't really do anything. They save a bit of time if you need to jack up one side of the car, but that's about it. And if you need to use the factory scissor jack, it becomes far more difficult since the pinch weld is partially blocked.

Okay, i am concerned with that for sure, as i paid for and added the spare tire kit….very curious if any of the options allow for it as well. One vote for “don’t bother” 😁 thanks!

I have them on mine. Love to be able to jack the car anywhere they cover without damaging pinch welds. They may help stiffen the body and connect subframes. Not even considering their removal.

Have you been able to test yours with the factory jack Paul? Do you have?

I have the Steeda full length. Love them, especially when it comes time to swap wheels/tires. Jack up one side of the car at a time.

I too have the spare tire kit, not really concerned about it. I will say, the Steeda powder coat could be better. After 5 winters, they’re rusting. Probably going to have to take them off this spring, get all the rust off and either get them re-coated or paint them myself.

Thanks Mags! Useful input. I was also wondering how the steeda rails finish would hold up. For some reason the BMR’s finish looks more stout to me. But steeda has the short length ones too, curious if they allow for the factory jack 🧐 Again, i never thought this would be as difficult as a decision as it is turning out to be. lol. Hoping to have my mind made up as of this evening. I have to go under the car to do a barton, change fluids, etc, and figured go under one and done; driveway job……figured while i’m under there….well, you know 😁

Mine have been on since shortly after I bought the car so approaching 6 years now. I like being able to but the jack basically anywhere and lifting the whole side. You can lift the whole side without them but the jack has to go higher.
I found that I like the factory scissor jack enough that I bought a second one and use it with a 3/8" impact. It's small, light and fast. I very seldom get my floor jack out anymore. I haven't had a single incident where it has not been stable. I haven't had to use it in the "wild" for this car yet so a less stable base might be an issue but that can be said without jacking rails too.

Edit: I have a convertible with the factory spare. I don't remember the brand I bought but options were limited for the vert. Living in the south the finish is still almost like new.

Got ya! What rails did you opt for?

I’ve heard the BMR finish is a little better. Just know that if you have the Steeda IRS braces (or are thinking about them), the BMR rails don’t fit with them. Have also heard some of the BMR IRS stuff does not fit with the Steeda rails.

I’m not a fan of the shorter Steeda rails from a construction standpoint. The tabs on the end where the bolts go through aren’t part of the rail itself, seems it could be a potential fail point over time. With the full length, bolts go through the rail and Steeda supplies caps for the bolt holes. Just something to think about.

Absolutely something to think about 🤔 Thanks for the input on that as well, every consideration is a great help 👍🏻

I made a boxed cover to set on top of the jack because the rails block the pinch weld. It had to be made at IIRC 7 degrees because the Steeda jacking rails are not parallel to the ground. I use them with 4 floor jacks to put my car up in the air.

I wish I could remember for sure. Not Steeda though. I'm almost certain I went with the BMR ones.
I'm not really sure how much brand matters. After all they are just some squareish steel tube with holes in the end. I remember reading at the time of several people who just made their own. I doubt you'll be disappointed whichever you choose.

I went with the BMR CJR760 shorter rails. They come with a nice painted finish and still look like the day I put them on. As others have said, if for nothing else, it's nice to be able to pull two wheels at a time.
