I had a 2016 gt premium. That ride was really harsh. Especially on uneven roads. Now my mach 1, because of magneride, feels so much smoother. Even on uneven roads. I wish my volvo xc40 had air suspension, because sometimes it feels like my Mach 1 is a better ride than it with the magneride.
Blown out shocks on your 2016 gt? Mine 2023 without magneride does not feel harsh. Just right comfort. Fancy shocks will cause more issues and money down the roads.

could have been. It was used and had a corsa extreme catback on it when I bought it. So who knows what else was done to it. Maybe suspension mods. The suspension was seriously messed up by the time I traded it in now that you mention it.

I will have to try a non magneride mustang now to see what the difference feels like now. Since now I’m not sure if I made a fair comparison.

Hi gang,
I have been looking for a 2019+ GT convertible for a little bit now. It must have a few options that I'm looking for (PP1, Active exhaust, etc). I am starting to think maybe I'll pick up a new "left over" 2023 once the 2024's start to hit the lots. Most of them have everything I'm looking for EXCEPT for the MagneRide. It was on my list as an option I wanted.
For those of you that have had or ridden in ones that do and don't is it a must have?
I will be using this as a daily driver, mostly highway, but hoping for weekend country road trips.
I ordered my ‘23 with MR. Don’t know if it’s worth it or not. It’s a nice ride.

Probably better to ask in the convertible forum as most replies here are from coupe owners. Convertibles have a completely different driving dynamic without a roof. I would consider the MR for a daily. Convertibles (standard GT suspension) shudder quite a bit over bumps and joints.

Probably half the crap most mustang owners install that is aftermarket is unneeded or of minimal improvement ,unless of course you are a track freak and need every last trick in the book.
Is magnaride necessary? of course not, but does it make the car more comfortable in real world driving,,, hell yes, and it does a credible job of tightening up a car in sport or above modes. worth the money? if you drive a lot and have a significant other that likes a comfortable ride .. hell yes. if you like a hard, jostling ride don't get M/R, and when you get sick of the harshness of a std suspension you can spend a good deal of money on aftermarket suspension goodies to try and get a decent but still basically non-adjustable ride.
Me, I love the M/R and its adjustability, Worth the cost, to me yes, in the overall cost of the car it is not a big deal and has benefits that make it a worthwhile addition.

You can't please all the people all the time.

Several different types of owners, weekend warriors, daily drivers/commuters, track fiends, significant other who doesn't like any harshness.

MR is a pretty good compromise to meet those varying requirements, is it as good as a full on track suspension for the track? Nope. But then who would want to drive that everyday to work over construction and poor roads. If you have varying requirements the MR gives you, sort of, the best of all worlds, otherwise if your car is purely for track or purely for weekend canyon carving buy the car with the suspension to match that requirement or go aftermarket.

Regardless I, and I suspect many others on here, will be more at fault for any handling related moments than the suspension, MR or not. The car can out perform me at the limit.

However I do like being able to turn the compliance of the shock absorber up or down at the touch of a button depending on my humor, just like I like being able turn the exhaust from loud to quiet depending on my mood and location. And I am happy.
