This is why flex is so great. You don't get the low/mid grunt of the aggressive E85R tune, but you have the convenience of it adjusting on its own with all the peak power being the same.

Very true, just love the power of E85 tune. This is why flex is so great. You don't get the low/mid grunt of the aggressive E85R tune, but you have the convenience of it adjusting on its own with all the peak power being the same.
It would be real easy to log it to find out instead of just guessing. The 18 plus has 4 knock sensors. Data would give you accurate answers. It's not so much the AFRs, but what could be damaging is the timing.
A pure E85 tune assumes certain octane, and thus delivers rather aggressive timing ramp up and overall. If you're running a lower octane fuel (E54) with aggressive timing for a higher octane fuel then you could be causing some damage.
By any chance would you know if that 5 gallon drum would fit in a mustang trunk or would it have to go in back seat? Thanks!NO! When you find a place that has 85 Ethanol or better, fill up some extra cans to have on hand. Best to always test before you fill your car.
VP X85 fuel is always my back up in early spring, until my local gas stations get in the summer blend of E85. Winter blend tests about 79% in Michigan.![]()

The E85R tune is very different from the flex tune IMO. Butt dyno and feeling in the car is night and day difference. I also get the feeling from talking to my tuner - flex fuel tunes are only really for convenience nothing more. They are not as crisp as the straight tunes. For certain the timing ramp up on the flex tune is not what it is on the E85R tune. This seems to be gel with my short experience with it.Very true, just love the power of E85 tune.
Yes you can. Most guys around here run a flex fuel tune due to the lack of e54 gas stations. I have a flex as well but I also have a e54r tune from Lund. Not sure who else will do a dedicated e54 tune but I love Lund's. I use it all year long with the exception of the few times I run 91 octane through the car. What part of the valley are you in?Sorry for reviving a dead thread but can you tune for E54? I know of folks here in Phoenix with Infinity's that are running a tune for E30...
Forgot to mention I have a Roush Blower on my 2018. Lund won't tune it.Yes you can. Most guys around here run a flex fuel tune due to the lack of e54 gas stations.
