F Types are amazing, not much similar when side by side…..I do know you mean the nose/S650 though

Huh, it isn't you. From the angle in the article is looks like a striking resemblance to an S550. But a S650 looks like a Camaro now so I guess something had to fill the slot.

Well they were designed by brothers, Ian Callum penned the GORGEOUS F-Type and Moray Callum was the executive Design Director responsible for the s550.

I find the s550 (and other ord products of the time) to have more similarities to Aston Martin Products than Jaguar though.

The side profile is hilariously evident in the window shape or "Greenhouse" and the shoulder design line.

As a designer I've been discussing this ad nauseum over the past few years and has been well doumented in Design circles

Side Note: My wife and I almost bought an F-Type in 2015. Still think about it lol

I've had the pleasure to enjoy ... definitely a direction I thought about.

Classic silhouette used my all coupe mfg. for decades.

Fusion (Volvo S60 at heart) is a great looking sedan and performer in high spec, from the days when Ford owned Volvo. Ford learned a lot.
The AM grille look was a master stroke.

Sadly the euro pedestrian safety rules forced car makers to elevate the good profile and add airbag so when a pedestrian gets hit, flying up in the air, any landing impact with under hood hard parts is minimized.

I too was tempted by F Type, but bought my friends Vantage MT coupe using it for 3 years.

I wasn’t referring to proportions/silhouette but more the details of grill/shoulder/greenhouse etc.

The outlier of proportion and silhouette has always been Mercedes with their history of SLR cars leading up to the SLS and AMG-GT derivatives with their ultra long noses.

lol I think it is just you. I don't see much resemblance besides them both being a 2 door sports car.

Now if you were asking about the Jaguar X Type and the Ford Mondeo, then I would agree because they were the same car underneath.

Had a Ford Fusion as a work car and absolutely loved it.

Or does this 50th Anniversary Jaguar E-type really look like a MUSTANG??

I wish my Mustang was that streamlined.
The nose reminds me of this render from 2014, of what someone thought the S550 Mustang would look like.

Back then the styling reminded me more of Aston Martin, and I was fine with that. Ford had recently owned Aston Martin, and I thought if some of their suspension and aero design trickled down to the Mustang that was probably a good thing.

I think the Mustang is a pretty obvious copy of Aston design elements. If you're going to copy something, it's hard to beat Aston. The Jag F type uses a lot of E type design- like the very elegant taillights on the series I E-type. But I seriously doubt that Jag used a Mustang as it's basis for anything, lol.
