Well here goes another aspect of owning a supercharged S550, beyond all the upgrades I have done. Went to the drag strip to support Toys for Tots and do a pass or two. Got to the burnout box everthing went well, then got to the staging lights, one light, two lights, rev up the engine, green light, dump the clutch, what happens next? 800hp, 25psi in the Nitto 555's, and a built drive train, there goes the factory halfshafts. Add a supercharger, upgrade your axles, and save for a better manual transmission if your still with the stock unit, it is only a matter of time. For the mechanical failures I have encountered, each one has led to a better built car. Has the journey been cheap, not at all. Has it been worth it? I don't have a single regret, you can pay a boat load of cash on a new GT500, have a car your nervous to drive in, or for less money in the end have a car to drive and enjoy knowing you built it.

After the supercharger, in went the Gforce axles.
I saw too many friends break the stock ones, especially with 4000+lb cars. I am so happy I went with a base model and built it the way I wanted.

I’ve had my 3.2KB on for 16k mikes of daily driving and love it. Until I upgrade to some G Force axles, upgraded clutch and probably a Ben Calimer redone trans, I mostly avoid hard launches.

Here's an update to the blown halfshaft issue. If your spending the money on horse power, then avoid my mistake in over estimating the stock half shafts, and get the Ford Performance, G-Force axles. The quality of the parts are unquestionable, and considering the money spent on the supercharger, clutch and the rest of it they really aren't expensive, all things considered. Here's a few pictures of what to expect when they fail.

This axle is from a 2015 PP Mustang GT with a lot of upgrades. I can't say with certainty, but I believe The GT 350's carry the same axle. The Roush stage three cars were the only ones offered off the lot in 2015 with a Supercharger. Those cars might have had upgraded axles. Most of what I know now about the G-Force axles is from talking to the company on a personal level. Ford had some crazy contractual issues with G-Force as a assembly line supplier. That's why they did not come from the dealer equipped.

I cannot speak for pre-2018 cars or cars with manual transmissions but the GT350 left side axle is much beefier than the stock GT axle on 10A cars. The weight difference is nearly 5 pounds. Notice how the stock axle tapers down at the ends while the GT350 axle does not. Also, note the size difference in the CV joints.

Thanks for the info. I learn something new each day. In the end hopefully we can all get enough of this information out to enthusiasts to develop better cars built by owners.
