Hi All,
Trevor here. First American car purchase in my 40 years of life, although I drove American trucks/diesels for years (work).
Picked up a 2020 Mustang GT Premium with Magnaride and the Performance Package with Brembos. It was a “track car” purchase, and I’m trying to rack up 1000 miles this week to hit the road course this Saturday. 3 weeks ago I took one of my daily drivers (Lexus GS350 FSport) and managed to drive it very well on the track for the first time ever. It’s about 2 seconds slower in the 1/4 than the GT, and 120 less horsepower - so I’m really hoping I can keep the Mustang right-side up LOL. I’m shaving all the emblems soon, along with researching 1” lower springs (thinking Steeda is my best bet). Also doing tint soon, possibly wrapping the roof black. Not sure how to get rid of the shark fin though.

Re: shaving all the emblems - I hope you know that the grille pony sits on a solid pony-shaped backing that's part of the grille, and that the fender and decklid emblems utilize mounting/positioning pins that go through holes in the fenders and decklid. You can get replacement decklid panels with no emblem, and grilles with no pony, but for the 5.0 emblems, you're pretty much stuck with changing them for a different color, unless you're into paint and body work.

I did know that about the Pony, planned on blacking out for now then swapping grille later. Had no clue on the 5.0 emblem!? Seriously!? I’ll research the deck lid panels. Damn! Thank you.

Yer welcome. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but at least you won't be removing those emblems only to get a nasty surprise.

FWIW - I have stripped all the emblems off my vehicles for a lot of years, but I thank this forum for the edumication on this and many other Mustang-specific things. You can learn a lot from other owners' experiences and/or mistakes when it comes to anything you're thinking about modifying, strange noises the car makes, etc. Welcome to M6G!

I’ve been lurking for about a month now prior to purchase. There is sooo much info compared to other auto forums! I’ll be watching my rear diff on the track this weekend - hoping it doesn’t go into limp mode, which will force me to do the rear diff fluid cooler. Really looking forward to learning about this car. :-)
Thanks!

Hey everyone. First time mustang owner here from Ontario Canada. 2021 mustang gt premium in antimatter blue. I've tinted the windows and have an h pipe on order so far. Also put on a gt350 spoiler. Question for everyone. I noticed the surrounding film around my mustang windshield is grey after I put the sunstrip tint on. Does anyone have this grey surrond on theirs? The ones I've seen on person are black but I haven't seen another one like mine and I'm confused why mine is grey, as most cars on the planet are black! It made the sunstrip look pretty weird so I'll be taking it off. The grey surround does bug me though thats for sure...But love the car! Did a nice long 12 hour exterior detail and paint correction on it this weekend and it came out awesome. Looking forward to some meets.

Hey- Hunter here.

Just purchased a 2016 Ruby Red GT, Manual.

Brief history- This is my 4th Mustang.
My 1st car was a Blue '66 Inline 6- (eventually will finish teh V8 swap)? I still have it.
'99 Cobra- Had it through college and traded it for a 2011.
'11 GT/CS- traded it in at the beginning of the pandemic & sold another car we had to reduce car payments.

Now we've moved to Dallas and my '93 F150 isn't cutting it as a Daily anymore, which is where the new mustang came in. Will edit & post pics shortly.

Looking forward to the forums!

Good morning from South Carolina!
purchased my first ever Mustang, a new 2021 GT, May 24th. Prior to that I was driving a 2016 SHO. I was on the SHOforum and Taurus car club of America. I haven’t done any mods yet other than the airaid CAI with sound Tube delete, window tint and JLT catch cans. Can’t wait to do my normal FORScan mods. Double honk delete, half stock press to 4 flashes and Bambi mode on the fogs. Hope they’re all available on the Mustang!

Hey folks,
just bought this 2016 GT 6mt performance package from a guy on this forum. Sold my 450hp B8 Audi S4 and decided to go back to my Mustang roots. This is my third mustang, my first being a 1969 wimbeldon white convertible (my first car, purchased when I was 15 - I'm now about to turn 40) and also owning a fox body back in the day. Still own the 69 which is in the middle of a restoration (with a 4.6 DOHC swap). The 16 is already somewhat modded with bolt ons - catted LTH, borla exhaust, cold air intake and a Lund tune. My plans are to keep it N/A, install a ported 2018 manifold, upgrade to the 8" sync system, katzkin leather seat covers or recaro swap, and swap out the wheels for a set of silver Shelby CS14's. Excited to be a part of this community.

Picking her up:

Tucked away next to the 69.

Hi All,
Joined this forum last year when I still had my 2006 GT S197. Wanted to trade it in for a new 2019 Bullit since Nov 2019. When covid hit, plans went to the wayside. Unfortunately the auto trans died in Nov 2020. That was my daily driver for 14 years since new. Finally got around to ordering a new Velocity Blue, 2021 GT/CS, 6MT, B&O radio, 400A and active vale exhaust. Dealer said it will be 8 - 12 months for delivery but I'm in no hurry. Hoping production speeds up and I can get it this year.
Have the 68 on rotisserie to keep me busy in mean time.

Hi, first off I am probably on the older side but have been into cars for decades and have owned dozens of sports cars and trucks. Thank you for some good reading on buying a Mustang GT. I may have been persuaded to hold off due to pricing currently. But money was not a big factor so I went looking. I ll attach my complaint to Ford at the end.
I had a 2019 GT PP1 premium with 10K miles and CPO. Looked like a deal in spite of the price. So now I ll wait for Ford to make the next move if they even do. I am very active on other brand forums that I have and do own. Please , this is not a flame on Ford on my first post.
Again thanks for the very good buying information here, keep it going!
This went to Ford by email, phone and letter.

To whom it may concern,

I have been an auto enthusiast for decades and have had dozens of new sports cars and trucks in my lifetime. I usually buy one car every year or so, and at this point – no Ford vehicles. At 60 years old, I finally thought about purchasing a high-end Mustang and giving Ford brand a try. I was a little apprehensive after my last four cars being Porsche.

So I found a CPO advertised Mustang, and it was at (Marcotte Ford in Massachusetts) which is 150 miles away. I spent two full days going to the dealer and 600 miles of my driving time and expense to have the worst dealership experience in my life. I would consider myself very knowledgeable in the automotive world, including mechanical expertise. I will outline my issues and reasons I did not purchase the vehicle from the dealer or any Ford dealer at this time.

I drove 600 miles over two days of driving and hours upon hours in the dealership with zero positive results.

A CPO car and I found a few issues at my inspection that leads me to believe the car was never really checked out or serviced according to Ford specs for a CPO car. One issue was the wheel alignment that was out of spec. The car was brought over to service, and they could not get the alignment back to spec as shown on the wheel alignment printout that I have. Then they try to tell me that s it still OK. I made one phone call to my local dealer and got what the specs should be. Marcotte Ford couldn't get this? I felt like they thought I was an idiot with their BS explanations.

While at the dealership - for hours and hours - I found out that the car was brought in and sold to the dealer by the owner. The vehicle had some modifications that appeared to be brought back to stock. I was hearing things modified from several different people at the dealer. I know that the exhaust was changed, shifter and some other things. Now, I have no further proof, but as a sports car enthusiast, it most likely had a cold air intake and a tune based on the mods I know it had. That would mean the DME check for a CPO car would show, and it would FAIL to be a candidate for the CPO program. The car was traded in and went right onto the showroom floor. The fact that the alignment failed alone tells me the vehicle was not correctly checked as required.

I went to the dealer a second time and tried to get all the above issues addressed. I even insured the vehicle despite my concerns. I was a cash buyer and went into finance to finish the paperwork and wire the money.

At this point, I was told I could not take the car as they did not have the title yet. It was just paid off by the dealer and awaiting a new title. I was amazed after all this time that I was notified then. Can you even sell/advertise a car that is not able to go directly to the owner?

At that point, I left the dealer with no transaction complete. This potential vehicle purchase and was alot of wasted time, expense, and effort on my part. I lost all confidence in Marcotte Ford, the sales department, management, service department, and the Ford brand. Ford lost a chance at a high-end buyer.

I won't even go into the price gouging and obscene markup as I also know the trade value.Greed. Blame COVID seems to be the default these days.

Those are only the highlights of my experience with Ford.

I am involved with several car clubs and internet forums and posted a review on car.com where Marcotte advertised the car. I will not contact the dealer at this point

Hello everyone

So I just bought my first mustang a week ago (as of this post). I had been planning on getting a mustang for over a year, but just hadn't had the money. I wouldn't have gotten this one if Enterprise had had a car for me to rent like I had reserved in the first place. They had trouble finding me a car though, so I thought "Well, I got the money, lets just go buy a car". I found this 2015 Mustang GT 6 speed for 26.5k, about 5k less than all the other GTs in the area I was looking. I'm not sure what all has been done to the car, but it does have aftermarket exhause (couldn't find a brand name on it) and a cold air intake done. They also replaced all the plastic caps under the hood with metal ones, and yea they look nice but holy hell do they get hot.

For the first time in my life I have bought a car because I wanted it, and not because it was all I could afford. I'm loving this car though, even if it's not the package I was originally aiming for, I'm still really enjoying this. Most expensive purchase I've ever made, and my happiest purchase ever made.

I have an update. Ford sent me an email on Thursday that my GT/CS is scheduled to be built starting July 26. May see it before fall.

Hello Everyone,
I'm Gary from Romulus MI. Thank you for letting me join the site. I'm 55 and been a Mustang guy all my life. I have a 1970 Mach 1 I've owned for 43 years. Last April I bought a 2021 Mach 1 and it was just luck I was able to buy it. The person that ordered it decided he needed a truck instead of the Mach 1. And I just happened to stop and look at it and I was able to buy it.

I am kind of new to the S550 platform my wife has a 2018 GT 350 we bought her but that's her baby so I don't mess with it much lol.

I have a YouTube Channel if your interested. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4tp65rt5qsUb8742Av6tlQ
