Hello everyone,

My name is Rick, and I'm in western NY state. I'm a late '30s automotive engineer for a drivetrain component supplier and a long time Ford-guy from a long-running Ford family. Mustang convertibles are sort of common in my family; my father has a '66 and my sister has a 2012. My current car is a 1999 35th anniversary LE convertible, a 5-speed car, with 90K miles.

I've been lurking here for a while and trying to keep current with S550 development (I even read all 60+ pages of the Steeda weight controversy). I decided to sign up so I can occasionally chime in to topics that are close to home, and also because I'm yet another guy with plans to order an S550 when ready. In my case, however, that won't be for another year or so. I plan to order a '16 when the order banks change over next summer.
What sort of drivetrain components do you work on / does your work supply? Mustang related?

EDIT: Also - welcome!

The company that I work for produces limited slip differentials, part & full-time AWD systems, steering systems, bearings, etc. Yes, we do have a bit of work with Ford, as well as GM, Audi, Toyota and others. I can mention that I did do some work on the recent Boss 302. I'm not sure how much more I should elaborate at the moment.

Well guys, this is my first post. I have been lurking here for probably close to 9 months and took the plunge today! Still on the fence about the 2015, but they are growing on me more and more every day. I am currently in the market for a sports car as a friday/weekend fun car (not daily driver) and am torn between the 2015 GT PP and picking up a used 2011 GT500 with PP. unfortunately the decision will probably come down to which I am more comfortable in as I am 6'5".

With the longer seat rails in the 2015, you might be more comfortable in that vehicle. The seats can slide pretty far back for you giant folk...

Yeah I saw the video with the big 6'6" guy in the recaros, but I have ridden in some ford trucks and I want me some cooled seats! Not sure if the electric seats have the same rails as the recaros.

Hey all, been a lurker for less than a month and decided to make an account!

I've had my eye on the 2015 Mustang for some time, real excited to see it coming out soon! My first car was a bitching '65 289 Mustang, and seeing as the 2015 is the 50th anniversary, I will be buying a 2015 as my first new car purchase!

Thanks for sharing! Man it sounds like you're doing something that a lot of us (speaking for myself for sure) would love to do! I used to do some forward and reverse engineering using Solidworks, even began to develop a coilover rear suspension system for classic Mustangs, mainly for myself as there isn't a great market here (yet) for that sort of thing.

I'm sure some of it would be interesting to you guys, other parts not so much. Personally, I've used Unigraphics NX a bit. I toyed with Solidworks once, but one of major customers at the time used UG, so that's what drove the choice. The biggest gripe I have with this job is that I can't always talk about what I'm working on. At least not if want to stay employed... :D

Hi There

Hi All, Thom here, I know I have seen a few of you on the Mustang Source.

Found this page when following the weight increase rumors.

Funny I thought they were suppose to drop 300 to 500 pounds not add 50 to 250.

Oh well. Thought I would say hello.

Hi, I'm Chris.

I've always been interested in Mustangs, and love the sound of a GT with a good exhaust. But, with IRS and a turbo 4, I'm really thinking about taking the plunge and ordering an Ecoboost.

While I will definitely be sad to see my MR2 Turbo go, I think that a new mustang should be a decent replacement.
