  1. 2020 Tesla Roadster 8.9 1/4 mile

I agree with this somewhat. Why can't Tesla (also) make a nice looking sports car with decent (note: not ludicrously ridiculous) performance, and a more attainable price tag? 0-60 in 4.5 instead of 1.9 with a 400 mile range vs 600+. Less motors, less battery, less cost. It's cool they can make...
  2. Rpm runaway?

Free-revving is revving the engine in neutral (clutch in is effectively the same thing). I also wasn't considering the disconnect between throttle and your foot (being throttle angle and torque source). I'm not familiar with ("new fangled") systems with various torque sources. Seems like you're...
  3. Rpm runaway?

Firstly I'm not sure what "torque source" means? In the last graph, first shift it looks like you've pushed the clutch in before letting off the throttle. Not much, but slightly. That plus the throttle not closing instantly (nor closing completely) might lead to the 350rpm increase? You can...
  4. Old man Mustang with his kid at school

I think he was referring to the car as the old man, not the owner. I'd have a 69 sportsroof if I had the room and money.
  5. Got rear ended...totalled?

People who think the world owes them everything.
  6. Got rear ended...totalled?

Make sure you lodge a complaint about the police not bothering with copies of the pics to show it was no bumper scratch. Hold people accountable for their responsibilities. No doubt they were all tied up dealing with petty shit from entitled whingers.
  7. Mazda HCCI engine

It looks quite promising! I hope they get it nailed down and others follow suit. Who isn't going to want more efficiency?
  8. Aggressive Drivers Suck (Simple Rant Thread)

Yep good on you for getting the plate and reporting it. Too many times things like this happen and in the heat of the moment I don't think to get the plate. Its far beyond time to start holding douchebags accountable for their garbage behaviour.
  9. Anybody ever fall "out of love" with owning your Mustang?

Man I'm similar to you; I value money a lot more than most seem to. I'm 35 and had 3 cars. The third car I've had for nine years, and is almost 15 years old. I plan to have it for another 3, 4, maybe 5 years to get value out of it. As a teenager I REALLY wanted a 69 sportsroof and spent too...
  10. Esoteric Fine Auto Detail hard at work on a LaFerrari Aperta! Check out the Video!

Man that garage is amazing. I'm loving the woodwork in it. I was initially impressed with the cars but man once I saw the building!
  11. Gas/Diesel Banned by 2040

They're banning the SALE of fossil vehicles by then. Hybrids are excluded. So not really that drastic of a change. Modern cars seem expensive and fragile and seem to be getting moreso, and full of gadgetry that true driving enthusiasts don't really have much care for. For them keeping and...
  12. ANCAP Ratings

They'd sell more here if they sent them instead of everyone waiting 12 months. The rating was low as it can only be as high as the lowest rated section. I believe it was something pretty insignificant like lack of blindspot monitoring or something similar (which will be in the export 2018s anyway).
  13. Quick thinking just saved me from a rearend collision

Yep, you can't rely on others, check your six! I ride a bike as well and being on a bike makes checking yourself even more important. Luckily bikes can usually fit between the cars so when stopped you set yourself up with an escape route and make sure two or three cars behind your are stopped...
  14. Viking Crusader Front Coilover Kit: Epicness Inside

Those look nice! I was about to ask if you had weights on the stock components, then went to check the "what things weigh" thread. Along the way I thought you might have been the guy that started that thread, and sure enough the weights are there AND the Viking ones too lol.
  15. 0w40?

Yep, I'd say if 5W30 is standard and you have too much (you need to work out what is too much) oil pressure when cold and not enough when hot then 0W40 is going to be better suited.
  16. Camo Mustang

The car kinda gets lost in the camo, which I guess means it is working correctly. I don't like it for that reason, but it sure is different! I thought the first pic was a 370Z at first... I'd like to see someone do a camo job like Ford's testing camo. You could troll the heck outta everyone...
  17. All 2015+ Mustang S550 renders / chops compilation

Love the aspect ratio of the tyres; The right amount of meaty. Everything else also looks pretty cool. Also torn by the notch back. I like it, but it also looks less special. Kinda gives me an RX7 impression as well. I'm also a BIG fan of the fastback / sportsroof design. I bet it can make...
  18. Calling Australians and Candadians

I've never noticed any great amount of orange on the spark plugs of my Harley nor in the exhaust. Not sure on degraded cats as I don't believe there is any testing of emissions anywhere unless you are suspected of having dodgy emissions equipment.
  19. Magneride and Swaybars

I liken the Magneride to the DOHC VT&L that can deliver smooth idle (like plush shocks / springs) with big-cam performance (performance suspension). It's a technology that offers much less compromise on the two, generally opposing goals that they have.
  20. Magneride and Swaybars

You're right; For some reason I was forgetting that the shock isn't the spring. The system would need some kind of electric spring to emulate the sway bar.
