Hello everyone, long time performance junkie and numerous Mustang owner here. Wife is currently looking for her next "personal fun car" and believe she will be waiting to order a new '15 Mustang.

Here is a quick look at my current performance cars.

Long time BMW owner/lessee here, having had a vehicle in our family from almost every one of their modern product lines.

I've never really been one for customizing a vehicle and building a life-time relationship with it. When I get a car, I get it to fulfill a purpose, be maintenance free, and look good doing it until the lease is up. In that regard BMW is, in my opinion, the best product out there for the money. With that being said… the new body-styles, the shrinking interiors, and the lack of convertible models have really got me looking at all of the options.

My previous needs tended to put me in an SUV, which isn’t really applicable anymore (even though I consider the X5 one of the best vehicles I’ve ever had, twice), and my current needs put me in a 4 seat convertible that I only need to be drivable in the warm months. I’m also taller than average (6’5”), so cockpit room is a necessity. I don’t want a boring sedan, and I’m not interested in spending $100k+ on a car that I drive half the year.

Coming from any of the foreign luxury lines, you definitely look at things a little biased, making it difficult to get back in to an American brand. For instance: I looked at a 14’ Mustang GT Premium and was not impressed with the interior, the features, and the lack of a lease program for the GT’s. After all, it’s still a ~$50k car fully loaded… I just expected more. I did, however, find the cockpit to be roomy enough in the automatics.

It looks like they’ve got some more of the creature comforts in the 2015 that I’m looking for and I think if Ford can fix the interior quality and get some attractive lease programs (which is a necessary element in the “global” plan), this will be the car I’m in next.

Anyhow, just wanted to think out loud for a moment and give a bit of a different perspective from someone who would not have typically been a Mustang consumer in the past.
I can relate since I have driven other brands and currently own an older 330i. I got my 11GT used for 19k with only 15k miles.

That is a lot for a fully loaded GT. I guess you are better to look at a used 2011-13 with low miles. You can find them in the 20-25k range all day long. Personally, this would get you into a Mustang that is still under warranty in most cases while giving you much more room for upgrades and 20k in your pocket to go towards the new 2015:thumbsup:

mustang fan, but very partial to the 69-70, and 05-09 body lines... we have a 69 on a spit, it has sat in my garage since I parked it in 1984, finally started on it this july, but kids project cars have put it on the back burner the last couple months...
december of 05 picked up a 06 gt stick, then the wife got a 07 pony/auto (4 sons= not enough seats? no, not enough mustangs! ), then the morning after the disappointing speed channel 2010 'reveal' ordered a 09 identical to the 06...its stored with 4 miles on it, someday it will be my next 'new' mustang when the 06 wears out or otherwise dies...

not a big fan of the 15 so far, the fusion looks better in real life than in pics, hopefully the 15 will too...personal prefs are just that, but I wish the frontend was more unique. the 10-12 nose was great, the 05-09 was great, the 13-14 too much for me, the 15, not enough... love the 05-09 tail, totally, completely, beyond words disappointed with the 10-12 rear, kinda like the 13-14, kinda ok with the 15...all time favorite though was still the 69- every line on that car has a purpose, the 15's disappearing/reappearing/disappearing beltline crease i disliked on the fusion and escape, I really do not like 'corporate styling' and their one size fits all ideas... I just think mustang shoulda stayed more unique, but it is what it is.
hopefully the more 'common' lines will find a bigger market worldwide, ford has a lot riding on it- it will undoubtedly be the best car ever to carry the name, but i worry it may not have the 'look' that screams 'buy me' like the 05 did. real life viewing will be important, as the pics just dont have much wow factor.

heres our mustangs- kinda partial to blue too :)

The rear of the 2015 makes the 05-09's look archaic. I liked the 05 concept rears much better. The 3d look it seems they saved for the 15.

As a base car, the 15 screams buy me more than any other base mustang before it IMO.
It's the most stylish Mustang without modifications that I have seen. I sometimes wonder if the aftermarket will shrink with the S550 as a result -at least for cosmetic mods.

Oh, it most definitely will. As you know, the 05's and up ride like 4x4s and need to be lowered with better everything suspension wise while the interiors are less then desired along with them needing a tune and larger tires. (although I kept 17's I got different rims). I think their will be some cosmetics and tunes out there along with bolt ons, it will be to a lesser degree.

Hello everyone just thought I would introduce myself. I have been out of the mustang family for a while, well not totally (have had a 64 1/5 forever), but sold my 97' Cobra back in 05'. I haven't been a big fan of the past couple model years, but this new car I really like the look of so far.

Long time listener first time caller LOL! I was watching the renderings and was amazed by the accuracy of Chaz' work. I'm using the same username as I did on all my other stang forums.

Nice site!

I'm hoping to shed some lite on a few rumors for you guys while I'm hear. Maybe even create a few rumors too!

I've been more into Jeeps lately and the last 2 years I've been dealing with a JK Rubicon project and converting it to a Cummins BT4 diesel. Info on my 2011 Musting is in my signature and on other forums.

Hello all, my name is Enrique. I used to have a 99 Red convertible I sold/gifted to a niece as her first car. August in Dallas when the AC goes is unbearable. I miss that car and have been waiting for this refresh. Now I have to see how the numbers for the turbo 4 versus 5.0 shake out to make my choice.

What's up people!!

Matt here, I am very new to posting on this site, but I have been following your info on S550 for quite a while!

I mostly just stick to posting on Jalopnik, under the name "savethethirdpedal".

I am currently working on a Mechanical Engineering degree, and I currently work at Ford Motor Company, working on the car this site was built to follow development of.

I am also an avid mustang fan and hope to purchase a 2015 V8 perf pack once I get further along in school (still have roughly two years left before full-time.)

Glad to see the enthusiasm surrounding S550, and keep the info going! I would be happy to fill in details when/where necessary, but also understand I am limited on what I can/can't say.
Hopefully you can post without getting into too much trouble :)

...without getting into ANY trouble.

Working on a Mechanical Engineering degree and working at Ford Motor Company is a pretty nice accomplishment. Congrats! Don't put your career at risk for us info-crazy Mustang fans.

Please share info that you know is approved for release and feel free to correct us when we start jabbering about stuff that is incorrect.

This is the plan. I will not be leaking anything, as that would put my career in jeopardy. If I see a debate that I am able to clear up without leaking, I will do my best.

Hello Everyone - New here but have been lurking around forever. Really enjoyed all the "chops" from everyone prior to the reveal. Great job! I'm from Fresno, CA and own a '72 Mach 1 and an '06 Pony Package. Can't wait to see the '15 in person and I'm shooting for one with the approval from my financial advisor (wife).
