The death total here in MN is 79. The average age of those who have passed away in MN is 87. And most have underlying health conditions. Too bad that those people were taken before their time by this disease. It's good that we have such good health care here as well.
Just reposting that the average age of those who have passed away from Covid 19 in MN is 87.

There’s nothing here. Trump is just blowing smoke as he always does. It works for one or two news cycles and then he changes his mind. Just like his “right” to reopen the country. We really need to just stop listening to him.
What we really need to do is stop pissing our money away with these UN asshat projects like the WHO. It is really obvious that all of these programs are just a sham to steal money from you and I. We have a WHO that takes the word of a known lieing communist regime. Having places like Saudi Arabia and China on the Human Rights council is another example. It is just plain ridiculous supporting these organizations. Every one of them is funded mostly by Americans.

This is why I still have Doc on ignore. First the democrats and the media were overblowing the issues to hurt his presidency, now the Who didn't make a big enough deal about it.

Trump accusing the WHO of "severely mismanaging and covering up" the coronavirus crisis. Projection much?

Now Trump says he has absolute authority but deserves no blame for anything that goes wrong. I thought Republicans were against authoritarians, guess that's just more gaslighting.

Now lets look at funding. The annual dues for the US to the WHO for 2020 is 58 million. It was due Jan 1st and has no been paid. For 2019 it was 59 million and only 18 million has been paid. How are we going to halt funding we've already halted?

We've paid over twice the annual budget for the WHO on Trumps golfing.

Seriously, these people (@Docscurlock) are idiots who NEVER do any of the leg work to see if they're not talking out their ass.
You are a dick......

Trump has done a terrific job though. It's hard to see that if you only get the MSM versions of events though. .
I watch the idiot most days so everything I hear comes directly from his own narcissistic mouth. He contradicts himself, forgets what he has said and goes off on rants - then keeps telling everybody he is doing a terrific job. You don't need to be a genius to see through him, surely even fanboys can see that ?

As I've said multiple times, I see good and bad with Trump. I can't listen to the daily updates as I feel he tends to ramble too much and I don't need to see him fight with the press. I think those updates should be brief and to the point.

But others seem to only see the bad with Trump and they ignore the larger picture to rant about minutiae. I don't care if I love his speaking patterns. What I care about are the actions he does. Many politicians are great speakers, but most of them just talk about doing things. Trump has actually accomplished a lot of things that have helped the American people.

Lmao! I can see it now, this is how Trump will play it off.

Hydroxychloroquine is a bust in these early studies. When asked about it, Trump will claim he's gotten 'many reports' of it working 'very powerfully' but they are also researching other drugs (prob from people who have endorsed him or who will pay Kushner.)

More studies will come out showing no benefit of hydroxychlor and clear risk. Some studies show benefit to the antivirals or convalescent antibodies/plasma. Trump will now pivot to saying he was never pushing hydroxychlor over the new proven therapies. Trump will then blame fake news for pushing hydroxychlor.

There you go again, who gives a shit what a Brit has to think about our President. I was very moved by what your Queen said in her speech, oh wait, I didn't listen to it because I don't care what she has to say.

Sorry, I do enjoy researching and learning new things but you have to understand this gets exhausting. I'd rather people spoke from facts rather than emotions.
And spouting your socialist rhetoric.....

Yes, it's still possible that almost no one in the US has had Corona virus and we will get 2 million deaths like the scientists originally predicted. I doubt that will happen though. Plus the scientists are now predicting 60,000 deaths. So the scientists themselves are saying that their original predictions were wrong.
.
The predictions will change as the response measures change. If you’re asking the scientists to predict when and what the Trump administration will announce and the efficacy of those measures before they’re even discussed, you’re playing a very different game to those who are doing their level best to give their expert analysis based on the CURRENT situation.

While we’re doing this, an order of magnitude is basically a factor of 10. Eg. If you predict 1% and get 10% or 0.1%, that’s an order of magnitude. To miss the boat by a few percentage points in a constantly evolving game against a largely unknown opponent is hardly “wrong” by any measure that you could reasonably apply.

Can you share with us who exactly is predicting the final number of deaths in the US to be around 60,000?

Maybe my math is off (and I REALLY hope it is), but if you’ve lost >28,600 people out of >645,000 confirmed cases with only 52,000 recovered, it doesn’t read much like 60,000.
More realistically, nearly 4500 US citizens lost their lives to Covid19 on Monday and Tuesday alone.
By my math, even if you don’t get another single infection, 60,000 would be VERY optimistic.
Double, triple or even quadruple that figure would seem to be closer to the mark, but again, that assumes no more cases.
I don’t have a PhD in anything whatsoever, so maybe I’m waaaay off track.

Best of luck to you guys.

Here’s the TLDR version.
A fortnight ago:
216,000 cases/5,000 deaths.
Currently:
645,000 cases/28,000 deaths with a rate of around 2000 per day dying.

If it takes the average person a fortnight to die from Covid19, the 28,000 deaths might be MOSTLY from the 216,000 cases that were confirmed up until a fortnight ago. Obviously it’s far more complex than that, but at the current rate, it’ll take a fortnight to get to 60,000, probably less given the exponential aspect of the spread. I’m predicting closer to a week unless some sort of miracle occurs. If the US had reached a Gompertz curve, it might be possible to make better predictions for the final numbers.

The tragedy is very real and it’s not even close to being over.

You don't have to reply if you don't give a shit. If you don't care about the rest of the world then more fool you, as the thing about a GLOBAL pandemic is this affects all of us.

Luckily we both come from free countries and can express our views on a free forum.

I didn't actually listen to our Queen's speech either as she doesn't run our country, I do listen to our Government briefings each day, as well as those from around the world. I then tune in to Trump for my little bit of light relief and entertainment.

Obviously any illness we will see people continue dying. The flu is predicted 20,000 to 60,000 deaths per year in the US. So of course this illness is tougher to kick than the flu we will continue to see deaths and we should expect to see more deaths than we would from the flu. Heck if we had no virus illnesses at all lots of people still die every year.

How many is the big question. We have no idea how many people have already had Covid. The only people in my neck of the woods who have been tested are those who are seriously ill and politicians/celebrities. Once we have tested a significant portion of the population we will know better.

However, the average age of those who have died in MN is over 80. Covid is going around - otherwise elderly people with pre-existing conditions that are in assisted living wouldn't be catching it. My (admitted) guess is that most people here (over 50%) have already had this.

But we will only find out over time.

I am glad you get relief and entertainment out of the deaths of Americans. No wonder we kicked your ilk out of our country.
