I get this sinking feeling that we aren't going to see HP/TQ, weight or pricing yet.

I hope I'm wrong, but I can see Ford holding out a little longer on these, closer to the May 11th order banks opening date.
That's only 3 weeks difference. I'm not buying the whole competitive advantage argument with this. I think if Ford is happy with the figures it will release it when the Mustang is center stage which would be this week.

If it isn't happy with it, maybe they choose to release it quietly a few weeks later when people aren't paying as much attention. Assuming order banks really do open that soon on May 11, I cant see what Ford gains by keeping people in the dark any longer.

None of the above. All three will be close enough to today's car, and we already know that my Boss is obsoleted by the GT+PP.

The #1 thing is the IRS and associated suspension revisions. That's what matters to me. Handling is what it's all about.
Agree with both parts of your post.

I don't think so. The 1LE spanked the Boss because of its superior suspension and bigger tires. The Boss was substantially faster in a straight line. The s550 needs better suspension tuning and tires. Losing weight always helps, but not strictly necessary to beat the heavy 1LE. More power is just a band-aid. Also a few ppl on M6G in the know have hinted that it will have less power than the Boss and make up for it in other ways. Hopefully this can be taken to mean less weight; better suspension is a given.
Ford said the GT PP will be as fast as the boss.
Big whoop... the Boss is slower than the heavy as fuuuuck 1LE where it matters to me - on the track.
So assuming that GM's 6th gen fbody will be even faster than the 5th gen, the S550 better be a LOT faster than the last boss.
Just my .02.

//edit: Maybe I need to clarify, that my main reason to be interested in the S550 was my (outdated) assumption, that the S197 was a better handling car than the zeta Camaro. It was a few years ago, but it isn't now.
Right now I'd buy a zeta over the current GT TP ANY DAY. So Ford needs to hit a home-run on the pony to get my coin.

//edit2: Can't vote btw. No option is applicable.
I don't care about the ratings, I want to know lap times, that will be the deciding factor (along with price).

I don't either but when it comes down to it they are holding all the cards so to speak. ;)

Big whoop...
Correction: Ford have said that the GT PP is FASTER than the Boss LS on the track. As for how much faster, obviously we have to wait and see...

I'm an instructor in a track group and I've driven the 1LE at speed... it has an excellent suspension - it's IRS is *far* better than the miserable solid axle in the Boss and it doesn't have the absurd nose-down brake dive. That solid axle and noise dive are the worst parts of the current car. Other than the 1LEs suspension architecture and tuning, it doesn't have anything desirable. You can't see out of it on the track (or on the road), the ergonomics are awful (not that the Mustangs are any good), the seats are terrible (except for the late-available Recaros - which are superior to the Boss's). The engine is powerful across a limited RPM range, and it has torque (but no personality compared to the Boss).
In traffic on a track full of other cars at speed, I'd rather be driving the Mustang because of the visibility it's seating position and window sightlines provides the driver. I've seen experienced drivers and numbskull students nearly run into other people in traffic because they can't see out of the gun slits in the Camaro.
But in the end neither the Boss or the 1LE works well.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I will add mine. I would not purchase a Camaro regardless of how much faster it is on a track because I can't stand looking out of the thing when I'm in one. Ever been to a stop light waiting for a green? My neck hurts just thinking about it again. Hey, it has presence, it looks good from most angles and yes, it has a more sophisticated suspension but I just can't get over the blah interior and terrible visibility. I remember Angus Mckenzie for Motor Trend picking the ZL1 over the GT500 mostly for daily driveability (and a couple other reasons) but I just don't know how he got over the outward visibility thing. It really is horrible.

The fact that the GT PP will beat a B302 LS around the track out of the box was enough from Ford's part to sell it to me.

Just imagine what it will be like with some mods. Full exhaust, some lighter wheels, a couple small power adders, and a lowered suspension will just make it an ungodly awesome street car.

^^^ yes. So fugly, good car but painful to look at, and out of.

VIN666 I believe they said beat a Boss, however they didn't specify by how much. I would hope it can at least beat a previous gen 1LE around the track or Ford really fucked up. That being said I am optimistic that Ford's engineers are aware of their competition, and would ensure a 2015 GT PP would beat a 2013-2014 SS 1LE.

I voted "If it gains A LOT of weight, I would buy it if there is a big power increase (450+hp)".

Weight has been a sensitive matter for me all along. Although I have become less worried about the actual number, any type of gain over the outgoing car will leave me a bit let down.

I'm not immune to price as any increase is still money out of the bank, but I'm comfortable spending $42k for a well (but not fully) optioned GT+PP coupe.

I hope to learn at least weight and power in a couple days.

If it performs better due to or inspite of weight variation, I will likely buy it!

All of these concerns are secondary to the fact that I love the car's design to be truthful. I don't really track my car like some on here so weight is not a deal breaker for me. Of course, the lighter and better handling, the better.

I care most about seeing and hearing it in person, feeling the materials, and of course how it drives. All the little things that I'll have to love if it is to be my daily driver. I would be surprised if any of that is a disappointment compared to my 2011 or the currently available model.

^Unlikely. A new design and a 30HP or more increase would be lights out for the competition but I don't see Ford being that aggressive in the first year.

I checked "if it gains a lot of weight I will not buy it." Also unlikely IMO.
Then I'll be disappointed, I'd like to see Ford knock out the competition right out of the gate.

I understand that love for the 5th gen Maro will be limited on a Ford forum ;)
That said, the only thing that matters to me at this point, is which one is faster around a road course. They both look sick, they are both v8 rear drive cars, they both cost the same.

But as it stands right now, the 1LE kills the boss, so the new GT PP better be equal to or better than the 1LE if it wants to have the least bit of a chance against the Alpha Maro.
We'll see.

My money is on which ever car is faster :)

The PP GT has to beat a 1LE in all areas right out of the gate or it will be bad news for Mustang fans.
