Plenty of affordable "auto X" tires out there that would be better than anything they plan to offer...

New wheels and tires are probably first on my list for the car as long as theyve got the price/power in order.

I've already decided on getting one eventually, regardless of what weight it is. Just waiting to see if it will be an Ecoboost or V8.

Price will factor into things. I like the idea of having another V8, and the Coyote is already a proven commodity, unlike this new 2.3L 4 cylinder mill, but the Ecoboost does intrigue me and will merit strong consideration if its specs and performance impress.

Have they said what tires will be on the '15 stang?

I am pro live axle.
The Problem that Ford has right now, is that GM is the first domestic OEM to use real tires on their cars.
And stock vs stock the skinny ass potz around rubber on the stangs won't hold a candle to the 1LE wheels that look almost like an aftermarket fitment. LOL
This trend seems to continue in the Mustang's next generation.

I hope some mag is going to run a track comparison on real tires. Aka hoosiers on both cars.
THAT would tell the story a lot better than stock vs. stock.
IMO there is more to a car than just a fast lap time (and I track quite a bit). A huge part of the experience is the overall balance and feedback. Of course the hope is that good balance and feedback allow one to have a fast lap, but you can also cover up poor balance and feedback by throwing on huge sticky tires and just going for ultimate grip.

Past versions of the Vette were known for excellent lap times, but also for squirrely behavior at the limit and a less-than-ideal feel on the street. It seems the C7 has fixed that. The Camaro SS was always pretty poorly balanced, with noticeable and annoying understeer. The 1LE however completely changed things, and that is basically the same car as the SS but with some better suspension tuning and a bunch of small changes that add up to significant improvements.

I guess my point is that IMO the Mustang doesn't necessarsily need to be faster than the 1LE, but it does need to drive better. It should feel lighter, more precise, have better turn-in, a better shifter, a more responsive engine, etc. Even if it has smaller tires and is ultimately not quite as fast, it would still be a win.

Of course if it does everything, then even better. Because it still is fun to be able to pass others at a track day.

IDK... Every Vette I've ever been in was a joy to drive hard with incredible potential.
They can bite you, yes. Every driver's car will at some point.
If you want a nanny on wheels get an EVO / STI / GTR :p

Point being, any capable RWD car will have a tendency to bite you if you don't respect it.

I am more interested in the overall ride and handling improvment than the raw specs, tho i would like the car to lose some weight, and I would like a bit more power maybe something i can round up to 440 or 450. Because my car will be a DD i have basically narrowed down to 2 cars, mustang GT or 435 xdrive.... both 6mt. Basically will the mustang be compelling enough to trade the easier winter commutes with AWD for 120ish HP and an LSD. considering most of the premium features on the two cars will otherwise be the same. if i could get a winter beater mustang would be a no brainer but i am stuck with only being able to have 1 car

I may have to change my vote now that I heard no track pack will be available on the autos.

I'd be really excited and happy if Ford announced pricing LOWER than its US competition.

The HP and TQ #'s aren't going to be a deal breaker for me, its more the pricing that i'm worried about.
