You guys are lucky that you aren't in Europe where we pay crazy taxes! In the UK (which isn't the worst) we pay 20% sales tax, plus an initial registration fee which for the EB is $1,000 and the GT is $1,600, plus an annual fee of $500 for the EB and $800 for the GT. And our gas is still over $6 / us gallon (£1,08 per litre...)
So for a £35K (or $56K...!) GT, we pay the government over £8K ( =$14K) in tax and Ford only get £27K of that.
