I am slowly building a system in my 2016 v6 with the base audio. I picked up a JBL DSP4086, and a SKAR RP800.1D along with an Infinity Kappa 800W 8" sub and a GP Audio Tru Spec box tuned to 34hz. I just wanted a bit more volume than stock, and to fill in the lows.
I have all the cables run, and will be mounting the amps the middle of next week. I'm curious how all of you decided to mount yours. I'd rather not build an amp rack, but I'm interested in ideas. Will they just screw into the rear seat-backs, etc....

Feel free to post pics

Amp rack in the spare tire well works great if you don't have a spare

I mounted my DSP and my dedicated amp for my rear deck speakers on the vertical piece right below the rear package tray. I used black Lexan as a mounting surface. There is still room for a dedicated sub amp if I want to go that route.

Spare tire well for me, although the amps can be mounted to the seat back as well.

I thought about doing the back of the seat but I need to fold the seat down for my rifle cases to fit.

I did mine in the spare tire area. Took a wood board and started to mount the gear and run the wires...still a work in progress. Replaced the B&O sub with a pair of 12s and a pre-fab box made for the S550. Still need to replace the door and rear deck speakers and get a dsp...

I dislike seeing wiring bundles or taking up trunk space …. Not that any upgrades posted here are not great, they’re excellent - but that’s just my personal tastes. I like everything stealth and hidden where possible.

If it allows, try to mount the amp(s) upside down to the under side of the rear deck. Then run all wires from the amp along the bottom of the rear deck and down to their respective L or R channels under/behind the L or R trunk wheel liners. Looking into the trunk you won’t see a thing UNLESS you were to bend down and look upward.

This is how my PPI 5440 is mounted in my 94 Cobra and also how the same amp was mounted in my prior 95 BMW M3. The only single wire coming down from the amp was the RCA lead that would plug into the sub box.

Here it is when it was in my M3 (don’t have any pics of it at the moment in the Cobra) and these images are after stooping down to looking up to getting the pics:

You also can’t see in those images, but on the back side of the amp rack are (2) integral mini computer fans I installed which draw hot air out of the amp. They kick on when the amp kicks on with the same turn on lead to the head unit. Never had any issues ever with clipping when amp is peaked….

I know it’s not an S550 install, but it’s just to give an idea where else Amps can be installed… :)

Here's a great idea:
Flip down amp rack fabricated out of tubular steel. Member @z06psi made this. I don't think he visits here anymore.

Here are the amps in maintenance mode.

Here they are in normal mode. Speakers were removed from the back deck so they can cool through those holes.

Yours look great also. I would say the spare tire well is probably the most stealthy you can get. No way you can see it without removing the carpet and in my case subwoofer lol. I am one of those people that appreciate seeing the many different ways we all go about doing the same thing to get different end results.

Since my Shelby came without a spare, and I’ve replaced the cigarette lighter negating the use of the inflator kit, I’ve done this. I have roadside assistance, I’ll be fine lol. (I still carry the inflator cause someone else will stop who has a cig outlet lol)
