For those not he
For those not heading to the track. Which is most of us. The factory setup is best IMO.

When I mod my Brittany Blue Ecoboost (my 3rd Eco in as many years)I will be using a lighter touch. All the bracing and IRS fixes and bushing lockouts are going in (various combo of whiteline, steeda and BMR) as a matter of course. But rear springs will stay factory. The rear dampers will get upgraded to BIlstein.

Although it seems few run this, if you have dual use goals, my recommendation is stay away from all the “fixes” and “lockouts” unless you’re launching from a standstill. They all add NVH in their own unique ways. Each is minor but noticeable and it all adds up.

Stay away from monoball anything including camber plates. Use the ford rubber bushing camber plates if you need them.

Run the stiffest BMR Handling springs with Bilsteins and stock sway bars. Use the BMW rear bump stops cut down.

It’s impressive how comfortable this setup is for daily driving and still an all out weapon for track duty. Throw in a set of sway bars if it’s too much body roll at the track given your tire choice.

not enough to matter when you use the RIGHT parts. I don't use BMR/Steeda chassis/IRS 'pucks' because they are obscene noise makers. Whiteline doesn't have the problem.

The Sunbeam wasn't 400, but it was enough.
It was in the 350 HP range. The only thing that ever got checked was it had to have a 2bbl carb. So the 260 was really a warmed over 302. :)

It was a race only car.

I liked this very much. There was a back order on the struts so I installed the rear shocks first. I swapped the springs after I got the struts. I really liked the stock spring with the bilstein in the rear.

Whoever specked the stock rear damper should lose his job.

I tend to agree with this. If you take great care in choosing parts and matching them to your specifications, the NVH may not be enough to matter or it's willing tradeoff for the performance benefits you get. All subjective to the person to a decent degree.

I guess my question back is what are the performance benefits?

I guess if “feeling” stiffer or more responsive is your goal and you’re willing to sacrifice nvh that’s one thing. If you’re launching for time at a strip, I get it… but feel /= speed.

My poverty spec Gt is a joy to cruise to work on shitty Pittsburgh roads. No crashes, clunks, diff whine, odd frequency hums, etc.

It’s also a blast to treat like a rented mule at the track.

It has no lockout poly, nothing. I went down that route with my previous pp2. If anyone wants a box of stiffeners, poly stuff and jacking rails, it’s in my basement!

I know I’m the odd man out in a mass of people bolting metal weight all under their cars.

Correct, and I think we are all well aware our cars will drive around a track without modifications.

I have the Steeda camber plates and rear upper mounts, and they do make more noise than the OEM rubber mounts, but is only obvious at slow speeds and very bumpy roads. Normal driving, highway/cruising speeds, frost heaves, etc, there is no difference.

I like a car I can read. The stock rides well enough and is indeed quiet but it has a hinge in the middle and generally ambiguous

You’re an alignment away from that fix
