So I'm on the verge of buying a police radar, but I have one problem. I really would like one, but it has to be hidden wherever I mount it in the car. Yes, I could stick it on the windshield and remove it at certain times, but I need it hidden if you're looking in from the outside at all times. If you're in the car and can see it, that's fine. Any ideas guys?

I have the Valentine One detector as well as the blend mount which mounts it to the bottom of the mirror.

And installing the mirror tap allows you to draw 12v from the wire connector on the mirror.

Still won't work. I need it basically totally off of the windshield, unable to be seen from the outside due to..personal reasons lol

I think they make a visor mount for some dectors, but you would need to tap into 12v wires somehow

Well for the power I could run the wire to the mirror. I think we have a winner!

On my last car I had it hidden behind the upper tint strip. I was dark enough that you could not see it from the outside and my side windows were tinted enough to where you would need to get up-close (in full sunlight) then look up, and still it was hard to see. I have it hard wired (now) with the connection wire run up along the trim by the headliner.
Also the detector worked just fine from behind the strip. I plan on doing the same thing when I get the mustang tinted as well.

If wanting a windshield mount, I'd go Radenso http://radenso.com/ , the pro has been beating up on the V1 pretty handily (and has the GPS features), and the SE may have unseated the Redline as the Range champ. It's also MUCH smaller so its not as noticeable.

For a custom installed detector, the 9500Ci or the STI-R, or the Stinger VIP are great choices, but hold on to your wallet. Radenso has posted that they will have a remote mount coming, but I can't say when yet.

K40 is as stealth as you can be and get with absolutely NO visible hardware anywhere in the interior. They have been in the radar business for many years - ranked right up there with competitors and used in the highest luxury platforms as well as the most modest...

I always install my V1 under the mirror on my personal cars (BlendMount), but when traveling in the travel car, I use the suction cups. One time, when I was going to get pulled over, I quickly shoved the detector inside the center console, where it was connected, assuming it'd quiet down due to no signal. To my surprise, it kept beeping with the same intensity (told my wife to turn it off) as it was when on the windshield, so maybe it doesn't lose that much sensitivity when not on the windshield. Just wanted to mention that. Yes, for best range it's better on the windshield, but to be brutally honest, my V1 sometimes has way too much range, to the point I think it was a false alert, and when I'm about to speed up, BAM!, there's the cop. So putting it out of the way might decrease the range to just about the perfect range. Might experiment with that one of these days :).
