Stick it under the passenger seat headrest.
It's still high enough that it'll pick up front laser (whatever good that'll do) assuming nobody's in the passenger seat.

For a while I had it there with just a friction fit. It wasn't very secure.
Now I stepped up and designed and 3D printed a holder that fits securely on the headrest posts.

An opportunistic thief isn't going to see it from outside the car. Nobody's looking at the headrest for a radar detector.

Obviously this is for off-road use only. If you get in a crash and your passenger breaks their neck, I don't want to hear about it.

You're right, that is stupid. LOL, j/k, I like it. I especially like your manufactured mount, you 3D guys have all the fun!

If you regularly don't carry a passenger, there's really nothing wrong with that install, and in fact it probably works better than a visor mount for rear sensor visibility. The only downside I can think of is the loose wiring hanging down the back (unless you put it in the seat).

Very smart location, especially since you already have a dash camera near the mirror.

Yeah, the loose wiring in the back of the seat is a bit of a downside, but it's extremely rare for me to have anyone sitting there. I'm using the coiled cord, so it has a little tension holding it snug to the seat back.
I should look into running the cord inside the seat. It was easy to do that on my Mazdaspeed3 because the seat had a zipper on the back.

If anyone makes one of these, please post a 'make' on Thingiverse and a picture here.
Thanks.

I really like how it looks and works under the rearview mirror. The front of the detector is flush with the mirror, and only clearing it by a couple of millimeters. And powered from a cable and the mirror connector, which is 100% reversible in seconds.
