Hey guys, and the OP why don't you just have your local shop weld on a set of J-pipes? My magnaflow competition cat back would kill you with drone if I was possible, did a little math to figure out what length j-pipes I needed and had them shop weld them in. No more drone it's gone, my dad and brother were both skeptical at first and so was I to be honest but those little pipes do really work
I have no interest in adding weight and turbulence to the exhaust setup. If it can't defeat resonance in it's innate design, it is not a well designed exhaust system, period. Expecially considering that these cars do not drone with straight pipes, there's really no excuse for drone with a baffled muffler...

My j-piped added maybe 2lbs and I've ridden in a buddies 2015 with straight pipes all the way back from the factory exhaust manifolds and I droned crazy worse than my cat back did. But to each his own, hope you get your exhaust just the way u want it

I can't believe that American Muscle would cover up real world reviews, that's absolutely sneaky and bad business! I'm pissed
I ended up going back to stock mufflers with h-pipe but now am considering Borla Touring Catback for just a little more if I can convince my wife to let me after that whole Flowmaster Debacle, LOL

Because there are so many exhausts out there that don't drone. Why monkey around with some BS that barely works and has negative effects just to make your exhaust work like it should from the beginning.

Slomasters are notorious for drone. I would go on to a Borla ATAK or just go back to the OEM mufflers. I heard a S550 GT with the FRPP Xpipe and OEM mufflers and it sounded pretty darn good.

Just got back from a 150 mile drive with my MBRP Race exhaust and I have a da,m headache from the drone. The whole drive was 55-65 which is right in the drone zone. It sucks. Love the way it sounds other than that. Has to go though. I'm on here looking for a new exhaust now.

Why not try the street instead. I heard it's drone less

Your J Pipe is basically a helmholtz chamber now. Agreed weight gain is practically nothing and there is no issue as far as flow for the mufflers. A lot of OEM mufflers have them.

Yup helmholtz, just most people know them as j-pipes. Solo performance puts them on all of their exhaust systems

What length Jpipes did you install? Not sure what the Freq. is that causes drone in these cars. Is it between 90-120Hz? Do you have pictures of where you installed them?

Mine are 29.5" j-pipes. Let me do some hunting and I'll find the link I used in order to figure out the length and I'll get some pictures of where I had mine installed at

Here are two links, the one of the best one I have found for the math equation for figuring out frequency and then how to apply it to find the tube length you need. The other is a post by zackmd1 here on the forum. I installed my j-pipes in the same location his is. And just food for thought, if you can make you j-pipes adjustable in length a couple of inches +/- I would suggest it just so you can fine tune them if need be.

How much are others paying to get the J pipes done? Still haven't done mine yet, but just curious what the average cost seems to be. My local muffler place charged me $400 to weld on my mufflers, so I don't think I'll be going there.
