I just received my PMAS CAI for my Bullitt today. I spent the afternoon test fitting it and while it clears the nitrous solenoids, I still have another obstruction. The nipple in the intake tube is 1/4” away from the purge solenoid which will make it difficult to connect the hose from the driver’s side valve cover to the intake tube? I’m hoping I can jus remove the fitting from the tube, plug it and maybe install a breather filter on the nipple in the valve cover. FYY, I do have the Ford Performance catch can on the passenger side. Can anyone advise whether this is doable without throwing any codes?

Maybe cap that one and put a tee off the big one ahead of it to route back to where the capped one would have gone.

Thanks MKL_DS. I will take a look at that as a possibility. I stepped away from it for today because frustration was beginning to set in.

can you just rotate the induction tube up slightly so that the nipple is further away giving you enough room to attach it? then you can just angle the filter down slightly so it all fits?

That’s a good thought kluke15, but I have to leave the intake tube flat against the top of the fan shroud per PMAS’ instructions. It’s still going to be necessary to clearance the hood blanket in order to clear the intake tube. What a PITA.

I'm assuming that solenoid is the optional purge solenoid ?
Is it possible to remove the solenoid from the bracket and drill new solenoid screw holes and clock the solenoid away from it's current position ?
I think all that is needed is to reposition the solenoid. A quick photo sent to Nitrous Outlet could solve this.
I'll wager Nitrous Outlet never tested their system fit up with PMAS.

Thanks for your suggestion GregO. Yes, that would work, but in order to do it, I’d have to remove everything from brackets because the solenoid fittings have blue loctite on them to seal against leaks and they don’t come apart without putting some force behind the wrenches.

I think the easiest way to get around this is to cap the nippe in the intake tube and install a filter on the PCV.

OK.
The blue breaks away easily with hand wrenches. I understand if you don't want to break the factory assembled thread locked components.
Nitrous Outlet would probably welcome your photos / feedback and work with you on a solution that retains the OEM crankcase venting system.

Thanks. Yes, Nitrous Outlet has been very helpful. They fabricated a new set of hard lines and sent them outport the quickly. The ones that came with the kit were not going to work. I swear this S550 is a different animal in terms of fitting nitrous on it. On my 2013 GT, there was plenty of clearance with no issues. I’m not really a fan of the PMAS; I got it because I needed a solution to the problem I was facing. I will say that it’ll be nice to keep any oil mist out of the intake by running the vacuum cap and filter. I saw a dual set on LMR that I’ll order tonight. Now I need to modify the hood blanket and that should wrap things up. What a journey this has been (a mix of fun and not so much fun at times).

Looks like you got it solved. No you cannot just put a breather on the drivers side PCV port without also putting the same on the passenger side.

I’m not really a fan of the PMAS;
The PMAS is one ugly piece BUT the reality is the flow benched 120mm MAF housing and that goofy plastic elbow are the best in the business at making real CFM gains and Horse Power. PMAS gets you about 20 hp with just a MAF sensor transfer function change. Embrace the ugly, it flat out works.

I have the Ford Performance catch can on the passenger side already, so shouldn’t I be good to go with the filter on the driver’s side?

No because it pulls in air that has gone through the MAF sensor. If you put a breather on the drivers side un metered air will enter the intake manifold.

The car will probably compensate for this but I'd never do it with nitrous.

I here you there GregO. I can get past the looks on it, but there are a couple of tho ha about it that I don’t like.

- Filter fitment on the end of MAF housing.

- Kit sandwiches the intake tube between the fan shroud and hood to hold it in place. I worry about the tube cracking over time without relieving some of the tightness by modifying the hood blanket).

While we’re on the subject, I’m curious as to whether PMAS users are using the air duct from their factory air box to direct more air to the filter. I removed mine from the GT350 air box, slightly modified it and snapped it back into place behind the grill. Don’t know if it will help, but at least the air is routed where it needs to go.
