I prefer turbos over any supercharger any day of the week. Both kits will get the job done though.

FWIW I have the 55's and the spool up isn't that fast. Don't get me wrong, it spools but there is lag.

I don't ever see my goal being more than 600-700rwhp. I don't plan on doing more mods, etc. I just want a rock solid boosted mustang :)

Yep.. Procharger/Vortech/Paxton is your best bet with those goals. Beefcake can set you up purdy.

Of your choices then Procharger would be the way. What about TVS or Whipple?
Id like to go a different route than TVS or Whipple. Ive had some GT500's and just ready for some change, plus I HATE heat soak...

I've priced the hellion kit and most installers want you to do their injectors, boost controller, and a few other odds and ends. I think at the end and wanting the 700 rwhp range, both will get it done, the hellion will cost you about 1500-2000 more to do so.

Some things people do not look at with these kits that you will need this and that to get to the numbers that some have dyno'ed at. With these ATI, Vortechs, Whipple, ect ect you need headers, boost a pumps, bigger injectors, and a custom tune. Now though some kits come with some good hardware, you still need these things. Once you add in those costs, your price goes up quickly.

Though the TT kit costs more, you will not need anything extra to get to the number you want. Everything is already included. Now bigger injectors, ect ect may be in order, but the rest is there. The ability to turn up or turn down is a plus as well.

All said and done it comes down to what you want to do. IMO if your going to spend 6k+ I would just opt in for the Hellion kit. Install and be done. Plus the cool factor is +10 with turbos.

I went the D1SC route. I was looking at the Hellion kit and it would have been about 2k more for the turbo kit.

I was on the fence between the 2 kits as well and I'll say that cost was not a factor for me because I am mechanically inclined and can install/maintain the car myself.

This car is my DD and I'm not a "fanboy" of any company or product, so here's my opinion.

Now if cost is in your best interest then you need to start adding things up. Will you install the kit yourself? It's going to cost more to get the Hellion installed, it's time consuming and very tedious wrapping everything in heat tape/wrap. If your install shop does not do a good job then you will see issues down the road. Are you going to be able maintain the car and troubleshoot issues if they arise? IMO it would be easier to maintain the Procharger, esp if you're not mechanically inclined and most definitely if you're not going to install it yourself. The Procharger is just simple and DD friendly.

Rough estimates here but the Hellion kit will cost 2k more than a decked out Stg 2 Procharger, D1, Black finish, Race Red BOV, pulley... you get the picture. Now let's say you add in Longtubes as mentioned before.. now you're at maybe ~$500-$1000 difference.

If power is of concern, well it's already been stated but you will go further with the Hellion kit. Both kits will get you 600+ out of the box, no issue there. Closer to 700+ and both kits will need a BAP, clutch, tires... hell I even put oil pump gears on mine for peace of mind.

Tuning.. can't beat Lund/Procharger. Lund won't tune for the Hellion kit because it's their competition. You have an automatic so you won't have any of the tuning issues that the the Perf Pkg guys are seeing with both kits.

s/c are very easy to maintain, and always less issues imo.

very well said.

we do builds all the times stock headers, and max effort builds.

even if your goal is 1000rwhp, the competition jt vortech kit is only $800 more than the standard kit, and is good for mid 8's.

the d1 will take you very deep into the 9s as well.

tuning cannot be beat on the lund combo

The complete Hellion kit includes 47lbs injectors. I plan on picking up a manual in-car Hallman boost controller, as I had great success with these in my EVO, for about $150. The Hellion complete kits is a full, ready to go system. I am going to be installing the kit myself so there will be no money spent there. The car will get a custom tune to optimize the gains, but it will be running the Hellion preloaded tunes until then.

There really aren't any hidden costs with the Hellion kit. You will spend the same in supporting mods on a supercharger as you would with turbos with the big exception being headers.

Hello.

Our systems are designed with little maintenance in mind, so little in fact that our systems are installed, warrantied, and financed on brand new, zero-mileage vehicles at many Ford, GM, and Chrysler dealerships across the country.

The advantages turbo systems provide are no parts to wear out (belt), free power when under boost, no constant drag on the engine as with belt driven setups, and better fuel economy than stock.

In the end its personal preference, but our systems are designed to be bolt on, and put down more power than any other option period.

This goes a long way. This is more important than the power adder itself.
While I don't know every Procharger S550 that exists, the highest HP one I'm aware of, is not tuned by Lund. It is tuned by Eric Brooks with HPTuners.

I think he's saying the tuning is more important.. and it certainly is.

But like I said in my other thread.. Everyone is having problems tuning the new ecu.. Lund included.
