Hello, just a quick question for anyone with a newer model GT. I am currently pending the purchase on a 2019 with less than 20k miles (no accidents one owner according to Carfax). I gave the forum a search and it seems their are some obvious small issues with factory tolerances etc. however this seems to be a bit more then I would expect from the factory.

would this be concerning to anyone? Their is a decent sized gap under both headlights. No other panels seem to be misaligned and one other one on the lot had the same issue (and two did not)

is this something I should be concerned about? Or probably just needs some headlight/frontbumper placement tweaking? The attached photo is under both the driver/passenger headlight.

PS hope this is the right thread for this! Thanks for any info!

Can the headlamps be adjusted to close up the gap?

Not sure yet, This was at a quick look at the vehicle. I put a deposit on it so just trying to do my due diligence. I'm assuming this is something that can be adjusted.

More common on the passenger side. But yeah, totally "normal" factory quality rush job right there.
The fix is to remove and re-install the front bumper cover. Make them fix it before you buy the car.

Thanks All! I will be having it rectified prior to purchase.

Thanks so much!
Just make it a written condition of the purchase to be done before contract execution, with a deposit made of course.

I’m not trying to put you off, but I have to say that gap looks ā€˜large’ - even compared to other cars that are supposedly bad.

Looking through the gap, it looks like the edge of the bumper (that should be hidden but is exposed) has a slightly damaged edge - maybe pry marks ?

These cars aren’t perfect and they are far from it, but that looks a little too much. I would be tempted to look for witness of other attempts at adjustment / realignment be it someone trying to fix a factory issue or something that’s happened later (maybe kissing a kerb stone parking up etc).

I don’t have exactly the same angle shot, but looking around on my phone I found this for a comparison :

If for nothing else, use the gap as a negotiation tool :like:

Good luck :like:

Looking again at the photos that does seem a bit much. I just went and pulled the cover off mine to take a look as I know mine came from factory less than perfect.

It’s a real shame these cars come with so much ā€˜variance’ :frown:

I think you are correct, after a better look after taking it home I noticed the front PP1 splitter had a large area that resembles road rash. I do believe someone was a little rough on the front bumper. I negotiated the vehicle down and got a great deal. Going to look into a possible replacement/respray anyways as it has a front plate (not required in my state)

Agreed, Lots of "Variance" between cars. Especially since another vehicle (same model year) had the exact same gap. Then another had none at all. Odd Stuff, I appreciate the input very much!
