I had mine removed twice and no paint damage. There should've been a thin rubber gasket between the mount and trunk lid to weather seal the gap and protect the paint. My PPF guy has already removed my wing. No tape, but paint damage.
Good to know, thanks for the info. I don’t think mine has the rubber gasket. But I’m going to stop by my PPF shop and find out. If not, going to get one ordered ASAP.I had mine removed twice and no paint damage. Thanks for the photos Joe!
Those holes look punched and not drilled.@Tomster a closer look at the paint damage from the wing mounts. The damage was slightly reduced after being polished. Similar paint issues under the shark fin.
I will have that information when my car is done. I asked them to leave the wing mounts off after their repair. After seeing some of these wing mount photos, I'm sure mine is in a similar state. So, I decided to see if I could gin up a gasket drawing based on John's photo. I think I got pretty close, certainly good enough for a test cut, but I need the correct scale.
It will be a little while before I'm able to pull mine so if anyone has access to the holes, could you measure center to center between the bottom left corner hole and each of the outer holes? TIA.
And here's the drawing...
