Agree with Brian, just be careful where you get some of that stuff. Not only could it scratch the paint but could also be harmful to the rubber and plastic around the glass (could stain it, dry it out, etc). Have used Bar Keepers Friend for years on stainless steel pots and pans, it does do wonders. We too have hard water where I’m at, I have a bottle of CarPro Spotless on hand for that. It is a bit pricey but I also know it’s safe for car use. If it’s abrasive, it can also scratch your glass too.

Glad to hear it worked for OP, I’d be curious if you can see if the glass has any scratches.

Also, a ceramic coating on the glass will help a little with spotting. Hard water spots will etch the coating though so you still have to get them cleaned up fairly quickly. I usually clean my glass with Invisible Glass right after a wash before any water spots can set in. Works well for me.

Ok, Meguiars has their own chemist. Does their product work better than a product 4x's less expensive? I can't imagine it does, but if you want to spend the money to have their label in your cabinet, by all means. I'm just sharing what i found that works, and works great.
I’m a firm believer in “right tool for the job”. You may think car detailing products are “snake oil”, but I know better.

I have water spots on my paint and can't find a product to remove them. I tried Meguiars Water Spot Remover, and it did not work very well. Any other suggestions?

It really depends on how long they’ve been there. Once they etch into the clear coat there’s no product that will remove them short of an abrasive polishing compound. If you’re the adventurous type you could pick up a cheap rotary and a light polish compound and gently work the area in small sections.

For water spots that just appeared go with CarPro Spotless, GTechniq W9, or Gyeon Quartz Water Spot Remover.

I just used Chemical Guys Heavy Duty Water Spot Remover (Walmart had it on the shelf) on one of my other vehicles and it worked great, water spots were less than six months old. Just to throw that in the mix.

The Mequiar's polishing glaze works well for water spots on paint. That's how i found it it's also good for water spots on glass.

Can also wet sand with a fine grit sandpaper too. Would need to polish it out when done but if you sand a polish a little at a time you’ll probably leave a little more clear coat. Unless it’s etched all the way to the paint, then he’s screwed. It would have to sit for quite a while to etch that deep though

The water where i live is extremely hard and if you're not super anal about keeping your glass clean, spots will start to multiply. I accidentally stumbled upon using Mequiar's polishing compound after getting it on the glass and wiping it off. I noticed it took the water spots with it and have used that to get stubborn water spots off since then. Today, searching the net, i found a guy saying to try Bar Keepers Friend.

Turns out, any friend of a Bar Keeper is now a friend of mine! Stuff works like a charm. For shits and giggles, i wiped it across the radiator shroud and my oxidized windshield wiper arms.

This is a single wipe. I didn't spend a lot of time tonight on the glass, but i'd say there's about a 95% improvement already.

I’m curious - have you tired to use that on a body panel in an obscure location in a small area to see if it dulls the clear coat?

I have not. The stuff comes in a very fine powder as well. I'm not sure how they make the liquid, if it derives from the powder? If so, i would imagine it would scratch a clear coat. Maybe i'll try it on my wife's car. :giggle:
