The water where i live is extremely hard and if you're not super anal about keeping your glass clean, spots will start to multiply. I accidentally stumbled upon using Mequiar's polishing compound after getting it on the glass and wiping it off. I noticed it took the water spots with it and have used that to get stubborn water spots off since then. Today, searching the net, i found a guy saying to try Bar Keepers Friend.

Turns out, any friend of a Bar Keeper is now a friend of mine! Stuff works like a charm. For shits and giggles, i wiped it across the radiator shroud and my oxidized windshield wiper arms.

This is a single wipe. I didn't spend a lot of time tonight on the glass, but i'd say there's about a 95% improvement already.

The original Bon Ami (no pumice) is also great on glass. Their moto, "Hasn't scratched yet."

Vinegar works too on glass or paint.
Vinegar has no effect whatsoever. I literally tried it 2 minutes before i tried the barkeepers.

Never heard of it, but when i searched it on google, barkeepers came up with it. Possibly the same ingredients?

I’d be careful using items not specifically designed for automotive paint use. They could contain surfactants or abrasives that could mar your paint and cause microscopic damage that will accumulate over time. There’s literally dozens of water spot removers in the car detail industry worth looking into.

@DFB5.0 probably has a few good recommendations he’d be happy to share.

Clay bar works great on glass.

What about bear urine?
I currently have bear traps out to try and catch one to pee on my car. Unfortunately, at my age, all i seem to be able to catch are Cougars. 🤷‍♂️

I would only recommend for use on glass, but possibly works on other surfaces. Try at your own risk.

I'm sure there are other products that companies have come up with, but how many are just repackaging another recipe and upselling it for 4x's the money? Barkeepers costs $3 for 26 ounces. A company like Adam's sells it's glass cleaner for $12.99 for 16 ounces. Meguiars $16 for 16 oz.

Most of the carwash/detail world is a giant snake oil sales pitch.

Here's the video that got me to try barkeepers. Check out how many of the popular methods don't work.

Barkeepers with Bronze wool seems to be the best option.

Finding out who white-labels their products isn’t hard to do. Meguires has their own chemists as do many other companies.

Ok, Meguiars has their own chemist. Does their product work better than a product 4x's less expensive? I can't imagine it does, but if you want to spend the money to have their label in your cabinet, by all means. I'm just sharing what i found that works, and works great.

Evolvd, my suggestion was only, and specifically, for glass.

Also, Bon Ami has been around for over 130 years.

I have used it successfully on exterior automotive glass for 50 years.

My response was for the rando who is going to think it’s a good idea to use it on paint…cause you know someone will 🤣
