If you were in the market to buy another S550 and your personal choices were narrowed down to the GT PP2 and the Bullitt (excluding every other available S550 platform), what would your final decision be and why?

Besides the wheels, exterior styling and interior styling between the 2 models - but zeroing in on them from a mechanical and chassis aspect - what way to sway?

Bullit's would be more comfort oriented, PP2s are more performance oriented.

I'd probably choose the Bullit........but neither are available with an auto.

I'd take the Bullitt. The PP2's tires are too track oriented to daily drive. So figure another $1500-2000 for street summer tires, but those 305 fronts will still have a tendency to tramline and hydroplane. Also I'd imagine that front splitter will scrape on speed bumps and steep driveways.

PP2, but I'm biased. Handling is amazing, even with an UHP summer tire that's a little more everyday road worthy than the SC2's. 20 more HP from the Bullitt doesn't really make a difference. You can option down on a PP2 if you prefer cloth/analog gauges (like myself), for considerably less than a Bullitt. I paid (net of all rebates) less than $39K with Recaros and active exhaust. IMO, that's a lot of value for that price. And, to me, the PP2 just presents a more intimidating street presence than the Bullitt (IOW, it's just a better looking Mustang).

PP2, but my vote may be biased

I chose it over the other options because of the reasons you said to skip. On the street, the mechanical / power differences weren't going to be majorly noticeable. And for the few times I'll be able to autox it, this driver won't be good enough to take advantage of either one to their full potential anyhow

The comment about the SC2s though is mostly right. You may want to switch them out early on if you are not using them in a track. Lots of options to replace with, although I haven't had issues in major downpours with the MPS4S I changed to.

I literally had this decision and I picked the BULLITT.

I reasoned it as I can just buy a set of used PP2 wheels for 1300, Ford Performance handling pack for 1k, front lip for $250 and any rear spoiler I want, and have essentially a PP2 BULLITT for less than the price of properly repainting a PP2 DHG, and putting on an intake and TB.

The Power difference didn't influence me at all. The better IMO, front grill, green stitching and color did.

That said if DHG and green stitching were just a color option I'd probably have gotten the PP2.

I sold my SC2's for $800. My replacement Bridgestones were $1,200 mounted and balanced. So, tire swap was net $400. I don't really notice much tramlining with 305's on the front, and some of our roads around here are not the best. As for the splitter, now that does take a little extra effort to care for, but I don't have a single mark on it yet in 6K miles (so don't jinx me). There really isn't anything wrong with a PP2 as a daily driver.

I'm guessing you don't have a PP2?

I took my SC2's off and sold them for 900 bucks. Paid around 1300 for MP4S's mounted on the factory rims. THe 305's do not tramline at all. I haven't had mine in the rain yet but I doubt it's going to hydroplane.

Yes you can "build" a PP2 with parts. But the tuning of the suspension, ABS, etc won't be there. Does that matter? Probably not but it isn't as simple as throwing on a splitter and some wheels and having a clone.

My vote is PP2 but I'm bias. The 20 HP isn't enough to notice really. Honestly the emblems on the Bullit seems WAY to much like a gimmick to me.

I don't think you can go wrong with either by for me who likes to a good handling car with street usable power the PP2 hit all the box. Do yourself a favor and get active exhaust and Recaro's.

I would take the PP2 because track use is important to me.

However, if I weren't going to the track with it I would pick the Bullitt. But IMO the only reason to buy the Bullitt is styling. I realize you said not to consider styling, but IMO if you don't consider styling and you aren't going to the track you should buy a base GT.

I’d take the PP2, buy a new set of wheels and tires and store the Cups. Get coolers installed and have a daily car that I could track with a simple wheel / tire swap.

PP2 Amazing handling and a better looking car. I did the Bullitt thing in 2001, drove that car into the ground. I just think the theme is a bit long on the tooth now.
