Hey guys, I have a bit of an obscure question. I’m continuing to upgrade my car to an OEM replication of a PP2 car. I plan on putting the FP Track Suspension Kit, 3.73’s and the PP larger radiator. Although first I want to upgrade to the PP Brembos upfront before getting to those larger installs. I see Ford has this upgrade available as a kit, but my question is this, is the rear caliper the same on a base GT as a PP2 car? Thank you.

From my understanding, yes. PP2 gets the same as the PP1 and newer PP cars. Brembo's out front, standard brakes rear. Even the Mach 1 and Bullitt are setup this way. Only exception is the paint color on the Bullitt's and Mach 1 (ie my Mach 1 calipers are Orange front and rear :) )

Perfect, I appreciate it, I couldn’t really find any information at all on this!

The pad compound is different between a gt compared to pp1/pp2 but otherwise the same.

Is your car already magneride? If not, that's going to be one hell of a job.

Looks like the 2023 GT uses the same rear brakes according to the specs matrix.

Interesting because the 2.3L PP uses larger rear rotors (same caliper) just as earlier model year GTs did. Anyways, bottom line is it appears that the base and PP GTs use the same rear brakes for 2023 model year.
Also surprising is that this official looking document calls for 5w-20 on a GT when they spec 5w-30 now. Guess someone at Ford didn't get the memo?

That's funny. Do you know when they made the change? Wouldn't surprise me if the marketing department just copied and pasted from the 2022 model year, which may have been copied from 2021 etc. 😂

@Nickel It is not magneride, that’s the one thing i’m going to have to skip, and opt for that FP Track Suspension kit for non magneride.

Brembo are WAY overrated IMO.
I agree honestly, only really doing this because I have a 7y/100k warranty and i’m bored so I have limited options of what I want to touch :(

I had the Ford Track suspension with BMR Handling Springs on my 2016 GTPP. I will say they are slightly better damped than PP shocks but looking back, I would have kept the PP shocks and just gotten stiffer better springs. It wasn't the shocks, it was the springs not giving enough bite and even the SP083 springs were too undersprung for me. Idk why these companies think that the soft front stiff rear bias is the way to go. That's for people who fear oversteer. If you want a tight front end, find a front spring around 400 in/lbs and keep the rear around 850/900

The same race compound on a 6 piston will always be better than that same compound on a 1-4 piston.
