Looking a little happier for itself now, complete with its first black badge, the big mouth installed and the mirror caps off ready for the black ones when it gets home :

I'm very happy with the quality of the repair, I cant find any witness to it being done with either the finish or the edges etc, I cant even find a plastic clip that looks like its been disturbed :

Its going back to the dealer now and with a bit of luck I will be collecting it on Friday ... :sunglasses:

In addition, I arrived home last night to find the family had bought me a lime 500 ! :

Amazing what you can find in the crap that the dealer would normally throw in the trash ...

I saw the model GT500 on Facebook as well, need to snag myself one of those! Repair looks great, hopefully shes home safe and sound shortly. And what a cool sentiment from the factory workers.

No, it was pre delivery damage - a few small paint scuffs on the front bumper ... :crying:

Iā€™ve not even driven it yet !

Yeah I'm not overly happy about it but at least I got the opportunity to do the grill pony correctly (with the proper fasteners rather than the break of and glue in method) and modify the grill / fit the big mouth etc.

To be fair, if I hadn't been all over the delivery and the dealer with strict instructions and viewing requests etc, there is a high chance I would have never have known, things like this get dealt with all the time on new cars pre delivery and without customer knowledge.

It was encouraging when the body shop was also very accommodating and were keen to work with me, even though Ford was their customer and not myself. The body shop owner was my main contact and he gave me a lot of his time, along with his son who did the strip down and rebuild as he was there 'mustang guy' (as a side note he had the largest, coolest snap on cabinet I have ever seen - complete with a classic mustang painted on the back :sunglasses: ).

They also confirmed that they had worked on numerous mustangs with transport damage (mostly front bumper) and that Ford weren't alone, or the worst - new roof's on unregistered Audi's ... ?

I believe the real obvious stuff normally gets fixed pre dealer delivery and sometimes your local dealer may not even know there has been an issue.

It also gave me a bit of confidence when my car was parked up next to an unregistered range rover in a burnt orange / red matt metallic that also needed paintwork - i'm guessing that car may be 2 x the value of a mustang

Anyhow, roll on collection day ... :sunglasses:

Heart sinks a bit when thereā€™s pre-collection damage doesnā€™t it.

Luckily my local Ford garage has brilliant customer service. I was due to collect my Bullitt and they rang me to tell me that upon prepping theyā€™d noticed two marks on the rear passenger quarter panel and that they werenā€™t comfortable with having it fixed and presenting me with the car; so theyā€™ve forgot about it and went to Ford and got another new one shipped to them, so now awaiting delivery to collect that one!

Can I ask where did you source the Velossa Big Mouth from that fits the 2019+ models ?

When I asked Dreamscience previously they said they didnā€™t have a part that fits the facelift models. Just looked on their website and itā€™s still not showing either.

Itā€™s the only old type.

It slotted straight in but it isnā€™t perfect, they have a dedicated 18+ version coming out soon with the matching drivers side. Itā€™s the drivers side thatā€™s always been the bigger problem on the facelift due to the bracing.

Sat in the dealers now, itā€™s pick up day ... :sunglasses:

Interesting, now I could not get my Velossa to fit when I carried over my old one off the previous mustang, hence selling it on.

I knew they were launching a new model but canā€™t find it for sale anywhere. It genuinely made a difference hence Iā€™m keen to do this mod again.

:like: Thanks

The new type is only just at the 3D model stage, I think we will see prototypes soon (there is a thread on here with the development) :like:

The dealer let me take the car with no plates on (yes officer, I temporarily displayed them to get home) and that gave me the opportunity to fix the rear on central and level with the help of a couple of AAā€™s and a water drip on the boot release :

Thats as low as a U.K. plate will fit whilst still covering the bumper mouldings (I would have preferred it to be lower / more central in the recess :

Other than that Iā€™ve started the big clean up and assessing what needs doing on the body (the dealer was instructed not to touch it externally - hence the dirt in some of the pictures above).

Thereā€™s the odd patch of underseal overspray and some iron contamination on the passenger rear quarter but in general it looks pretty good. Zero swirls and only one (very small) paint defect in the black roof found to date. I think Iā€™ve been quite lucky as the dealer has a Bullitt in which isnt great and black 55 which is absolutely shocking ... :crying:
