I think all the answers for this were back on page one ?

  • Bracket ā€˜fell off’
  • Poor weld.

Forget condensation, or that something hit it.

There are some very good welders on here who will tell you exactly why that weld failed :like:

I'm sorry but F that! He paid $3000 for the exhaust and it's still under warranty. File a claim and make them stand behind their product.
Ok... Well then use the warranty. It's not rocket science. Paying 3k for an exhaust is hilarious though. Hopefully they replace OPs exhaust.

Almost all metals expand and contract during heating and cooling so if it was a bad weld it will fail. There's also a ton of vibration in those parts so again a bad weld will fail.

Corsa is supposed to be one of the best out there if not the best. Now that I remember where the noise occurred from the pavement then bounced to the median, grass area. I’ll go back there and search for itšŸ¤žšŸ¾.
Will let you know!

Another defective aftermarket part that fails. What will the warranty bring. Another defect product to install? Do they pay for the install? Good luck.

This is the result of welding Austenitic 300 series thin wall tubing without an argon back purge. There’s only a few performance exhaust companies on the planet that will back purge 300 series tubular exhaust.
I’m not surprised one bit how the weld failed around the heat affected zone.

If it’s a 304 stainless system they’re all welded improperly.

Due to this incident, I am learning so much about exhaust. This forum is very helpful, one just has to concentrate on the great and helpful/healthy feedback.

Hope Corsa doesn’t let me down on this one.
Again, this is my second claim on this cat-back. Prior to this I had a valve issue and the tips were replaced. Video is attached.

Somewhere around there, about $2700 for the one w/the polished tips and it goes up from there if you want a darker tips.

Looking at the original pics posted, if enlarging them, you can see how the weld may have burned through the exhaust pipe itself, there’s circular marks/cuts there…. If the welding burned too far through the pipe for that brace, it’s possible there just was too much slag or burn through which was the weak spot (even though it did not look weak out of the box or on install).

If that pipe twists/bends/moves while driving, over time that poor weld is just going to give and the brace will let go, doesn’t matter if it was in FL or CA….on smooth roads or shitty roads… It’s just a bad weld.
