i mean front license plates are mandatory and required in my state as well. but i have been driving around without a front plate for about 8 months with no issues.

My dealer made me sign a little paper that said I told them not to drill the holes and I know that a front plate is required.

Lesson learned... don't take the car (sign papers) or take it off the lot, unless it is exactly how you want it. Yes, we are all so excited to get it, but they know that, especially with a car like this. They would have quickly replaced the bumper for you rather than loose the sale. dealers in OH here do a " we owe you / you owe us" form that is a legal document. They could have said " switch out front bumper cover" and you are good, as it is a clean new plug and play panel. I would not agree to any body work, or anything that is not a "pristine new factory car" though. Your best leverage is before you consummate the deal. don't relinquish it lightly. Like I said, they know your adrenaline is pumping, they usually try to change out the plates, and get you thinking it's your car, before you sign anything too....

Honestly I'd just put plates on it in the front if it's required by law and if it bugs you that much later buy a new bumper. Or just get some bumperplugs.

These guys claim it's required in New Hampshire. I'm skeptical.

Isn't the State motto "Live free or die"? It does seem strange that they would pass a law requiring holey bumpers.

My sales guy was pretty cool about the front plate. He said, "There's mounting hardware for it in the trunk, but you have to drill holes in order to mount it. I would never do that."

Front plates are required in just over half the states in the country. However drilling in the front bumper is NOT required. There are plate mounting brackets that mount under the bumper to existing screws/holes and are no drilling required. Some additionally are quick detatch so you can quickly remove or mount the front plate..... like when you get an inspection sticker.
