Make sure you read this before ordering an aftermarket oil filter.
Oil Filter collapsing???
Thank you, I wasn’t aware of this issue till just now. I did notice in that thread the part number for the housing which I also need cause my butterfingers dropped my current one and broke one of the filter centering retainer tabs at the bottom. It comes with a filter so that’ll kill two birds with one stone for my next oil change.

Too bad I don’t live in Canada, the filter and housing around about $60 on all US OEM parts sites and around $35 Canadian up there.

So @Snoopy49 , you are saying that the FL- 2062 is still acceptable for use in the GT350s?

Edited to add:
The 2018 and below manual supplement spec the 2062. The 2019 and 20 spec 2087.

I dont recall if manual addendums were released calling for all model years to switch to the 2087.

Another edit:

I went to Ford and downloaded the second (final) printing of the manual supplement. It still specs the 2062.

Maybe this question belongs in the 350 section. Sorry for the sidetrack.

Hi Tom,
The FL-2062 (FT4Z-6731-A) has been replaced by KU2Z-6731-A. I don't know if the Motorcraft P/N has also changed.

Does the K&N oil filter PS-7037 have a medal sleeve inside like the FL-2087 oil filter?
If you search K&N’s website they don’t list any oil filters for the GT500. If I had to guess it’s because they don’t have the metal sleeve.

Call around to dealers. I just used my last filter on an oil change yesterday and my dealer had a couple in inventory that they set aside for me.

looks like it might have some plastic reinforcement inside like the AMsoil, hard to tell from that picture
I'm thinking Ford did metal for a reason, and I would't bet my engine on it.

correct, the manual actually says failure to use the 2087 may end in severe engine damage or something of the sort, id have to go dig it up again

Got worried and called my dealer. They had to order a case (6) to get me a filter for my last oil change. With only 2 cars, a 500 and a 350 to service, I'll now go find something else to worry about...

Not using the FL-20087 filter will likely cost you an engine. The metal sleeve partially collapses as it is, I couldn't imagine not having it there for obvious reasons.

It has a plastic liner. But the filter itself is some kind of hard material, not paper. Probably doesn’t need a liner.
This is the only filter I have used in my GT500 and it seems to work fine.
Just changed again Saturday and the filter looks straight and firm.
