I like to disassemble things.
The was internal correspondence during the covid shortage about a redesign. I saw some of it and this is the result. As mentioned, it either meets or exceeds the performance of the previous unit. That said, I'm a huge fan of the older, steel reinforced filter.:)

I bought a boatload of the old filters. I agree, a steel core is better engineering. Something tells me the bean counters got involved and cut the corners on quality

I'll go a step further. Just mount up a quality remote filter set up with some cool AN fittings in a -10 or -12 and run the venerable FL-1A/FL-1HP platform. If I were to convert, this is the route I'd go.

Have Y'all ever tried or heard of Amsoil (they patented synthetic oil in 1973). They make a micro fiber filter that are excellent. Their Signature oil is good for 25,000 miles with their filter. I have used their oil, filers, grease everything they make for over 30 yrs. A oil change kit is $182.40 & $41.00 dollars off if Y'all become a preferred customer for $25.00 & free shipping over $100.00. Check it out if Y'all want longer drain intervals & better oil protection &

filtration then Motorcraft. I have raced the oils in my car & customers cars & use the diesel oil in my truck.

Except that Amsoil doesn't list any oil filters for the GT350/GT500 on their website.

So the only thing that’s weird is I could have sworn the filter was listed for the 500, as I know for a fact the EA15K43 was also a catalog cross reference to the 2087. It’s not registering today, but imma bout to find out why. I know it was a cross reference because I posted about it when they updated the catalog.

It still shows up with the vehicle search, just not the cross ref.

Motorcraft is better for ford vehicles.

Is it true that before you switch to Amsoil from a more plebian oil like Motocraft that you are supposed to flush the engine with water for a few minutes while running to ensure you prepare it properly for that aristocratic Amsoil goodness?

Galaxy,
We've been through this before. The Amsoil filter was on their site, and cross-referenced to the 2062 prior to Ford changing to the 2087. I know because I use them on my commuter Fusion Sport 2.7TT. I like Amsoil and use their products.
But, do I know for sure that their filter exceeds the specs of what they originally designed to 2062 standards? No.

Distilled water.

That is correct. Simple fact is this...The Amsoil filter has always had a synthetic media, and has always had a metal mesh support structure on the inside of the filter element, and has a 0% failure rate. Yeeesssss, yes, it has the little sleeve in the middle that's plastic, that everyone is so deathly afraid of now.

Yes they do.

Interesting. I was on Amsoil.ca, and I guess the filters are good enough for US cars, but the Canadian vehicles need a little extra that those filters just don't have...

Got a reply back from my guy. Long story short, the site/catalog needs to be updated to reflect all applications. He didn't know why the 43 -2087 cross reference fell out. They just need to houseclean their catalog. Amsoil says the EA15K43 is the correct filter for the 350 and 500 (all 5.2) because they do cross reference it with the 2087. How much of a timeframe before the catalog is updated?? Who knows. I know the 2'37" it took me to type this message is wasted effort, but hey...there ya go ;)

@JAJ And I just checked out the .ca website and it's showing the correct filter application for me.

It's definitely there now, but it wasn't when I posted the first message. That day I checked 2020 and 2016 and the 2016 definitely doesn't have a match, but on that day, the 2020 didn't either. Very strange.
