When are you guys doing your first oil change?
Reading some posts and blogs I've seen 3 opinions on this.
1. Some manufacturers recommend going the whole oil cycle because they include an additive that helps to collect the tiny metal break-in metal bits.
2. Go 1000 miles break-in and change the oil
3. Change it asap to what you feel is better.

When are you planning to change your oil?
1st: 5000k
2nd: 5000k
3rd: 5000k...

Not gonna make it complicated. :D

My Ruby Red GT Prem. is asleep in the barn right now. It has 3000 miles on the clock when I covered it up for the winter. I will change the oil and filter at 5000 and every 5000 thereafter. I live in Bristol Maine and we got 28 inches of snow last week and it is snowing today and are expected to get 12-14 more by nightfall. I have only been here for three weeks and this is getting old real fast. OH yea! Before I moved I bought a new oil drain plug which I drilled a partial hole in the tip and epoxied a small magnet into the hole. Come Spring and the first oil change I'll install it as added insurance for the engine. As Far as filters go I will use Fords' Motorcraft filters or a Napa gold and that will do it. End of story.

Motorcraft or Purolator filter with Royal Purple, Red Line or Amsoil. If those are too pricey, will be $70 - $80 for eight quarts, then Mobil 1.

Just changed the oil for the first time after 3.5 months of ownership and 1500 miles. 5w-20 Motorcraft full synthetic and a Ford Racing oil filter.

Some observations, comments and questions...

First, the Ford Racing oil filter was much larger in girth and length (giggidy ) than the factory one. Will I need to add add'l oil to make up for this added capacity? I filled it back up with 8 quarts.

Second, did anyone remove the two wires going into that control module on the steering rack so you didn't get oil on them from the filter? I opted not to this time as I just covered them with a rag, but might next time.

What was everyone's oil life reading when you reset? Mine said 74%, and again I had 1500 on the car in 3.5 months.

Finally, this will likely be the first car I've had where 3 months will come far quicker than 3k - 5k miles. Is that time interval still recommended for an oil change, or can she go 6-9 months on the same oil if I haven't reached my mileage threshold?

Seriously !? - you had a oil life of 74% with 1,500 miles after 3.5 months !?

Gee - I have 75% oil life with 3,500 miles after 3 months.

(I changed the oil at 3,500 miles)

I did... does that seem low? Seems somewhat normal to me just doing the simple math of 25% reduction every 1500 miles, or approximately 0% at 6,000 miles (given conditions, driving habits, etc. remain constant). Yours seems a little a bit high. 25% reduction every 3,500 miles, or 0% at 14,000, again, conditions, habits, etc. remaining constant.

Nothing wrong with that, I dont think its detrimental to the engine at all.
My dealer said, "See you in 5000 miles!" So who am I to question? I think I am going to get the Amsoil MTF and have them swap out the fluid though.

I changed mine at 400 miles. Didn't find any metal debris. Waste of money imo. Filled it back with Mobil 1 full synthetic.
