Hi guys, just a quick question, when will you have your first oil change? Salesman recommended at 1000 miles, would this be too early?

After about 500 miles when you're through beating the living crap out of it.

Divide it by five. After 1000 miles your engine will have a lot of freshly-shaven scrapings in its oil filter. After that you'll be in the clear and will be able to change the oil at normal intervals.

I'll do mine between 1000-1500. This has been my standard for new car purchases.

Lots of debate on this topic...I would err on the side of caution and get it done at 1000 miles and every 5k after that.

I did my first @ 1000 miles. I'll do my next @ 5000 just to keep it simple from there on out.

Please post your vin if you ever sell, not driven over 2000rpm and no oil changes. That poor engine. It's going to be help my valves are clogged and sludge build up. At least the metal shavings what be flying at high RPMS.

I normally change every 5,000 miles. I'm at about 250 right now. Dealer said no sooner than 8,000, just passing on info.

I have 6 years or 75K extended premium and 6 years/75k maintenance. So I'll do my first at around 7k since everything is covered for the next 6 years it really doesn't matter. :)

Speaking of oil changes.....I haven't crawled under my car yet but when the finance guy was trying to sell me all of the Ext. Warranties and I was declining...he made a comment. It was something along the lines of "think you can change the oil on that new mustang?"

What gives...is there something I am missing here or something that's changed with oil and oil filters??? Is there some secret compartment with a code word underneath to get to the drain plug or something?
