I think the Current GT weighs 3,600lbs. The Outgoing M3 weighed about the same while the new M(well 4 now for the 2 door coupe) is about 200lbs lighter at 3,400lbs. Hopefully the 6G matches those #s.New Mustang is suppose to be 3800lbs with V8? Heh, That's still lighter than My 2003 Passat W8 which weighs in at almost 3900lbs... when can I buy one?
You can't compare an M4 to a Mustang and I agree with Pill, 3700 is probably where it's headed fully loaded. If I have to take a guess, a fully loaded GT will probably be around 3550lbs. The latest M4 which has about the same dimension if only slightly smaller weighs about 3400lbs so 3550lbs is not too unreasonable.
I look at like this.....this car added IRS, thats a weight gain then they added lightweight fenders to offset some of the weight up front. They will bump up the HP to offset the weight some more (in hindsight, not taken literal). It's a strategy really. In the end most won't care about the weight because the car will handle better and be slightly faster (2015 that is).3700 lbs would probably have me looking elsewhere.
Yea, and increased suspension counters that, quite a bit if it only gains a whipping 100 pounds for redoing all the suspensionWeight generally does that.
